Brb, I'm off to start a Sanheim for Hicketts thread. :sarcasm:

I never said Hicketts was more valuable than Sanheim, but you sure do like twisting my words. Hicketts was better as he was the older player - this is pretty typical as older players are more developed.

Which really just make's Connor's dominance of the NCAA even more impressive, as it is the much older and stronger league the the Dub

MDZ is a tough one to guage. Went from very promising young dman to bought out to reclamation product to good again, or never sucked? Seems like he'd be a good 2nd pair puck mover. Jets have Morrissey for that and Flyers don't want to give him up because he fits. Let him be.

Enstrom will soon be gone and Morrissey hasn't even made the team yet so...
I think he would fit in nicely on the 2nd pairing and 1PK unit. We also get a mid 1st round pick. The flyers get two NHL ready wingers that are on ELCs helping them with cap space and fitting in to the age group they want right now. Flyers' fans would absolutely love Lemieux.

Even on the Flyers boards, he is hard to gauge.

As I said, he plays against top lines as our top pairing Dman. But then he gets hurt, and our makeshift D continues on without missing a beat.

He has 1 more year left on his deal and the debate is to re-sign or not. Ideally, we only need him for another 2 years and then Provy and other kids are ready. So if we do re-sign him, it needs to be a deal that the Flyers can trade when the kids are ready. But will MDZ want to sign that kind of deal? Likely he wants top 4 money and term, which he deserves. But Philly might not be the best fit for that based on the the depth of good, young, cheap kids on the way.

Here is the thing though...you won't get that deal from Philly.

MDZ is absolutely what you describe...a mid pairing Dman who can PK. As for the Flyers getting 2 NHL ready wingers...well...we have a bunch of depth there very soon.

Schenn, Voracek, Simmonds are there now. Laughton, Raffl and Weise are too. That's our top 3 lines for wingers.

Then we have Konecny who could be ready this year. And have Lindblom and Aube-Kubel ready in 2017.

Ideally we need a top 6 LW and a #3C NOW. We have youth a year away and we have Laughton and Cousins who right now, are on par with Lemieux and Dano.

If the Flyers are trading MDZ and a 1st, it's for a top 6 LW. In fact, I don't see any scenario where Hextall trades the 1st. He is committed to building thru the draft.

A 2nd pairing Dman and a 1st will fetch more than Dano and Lemieux.

Only trades between the Jets and flyers that would work would probably involve Sanheim or Provorov. I don't think Philly Is willing to move them so really... there is no deal to be made

Why just Sanheim or Provorov? Why not another D Prospect?

Can every fan base just ignore Ducky's proposals? I haven't seen a good one from him, and it won't be changing anytime soon.

The Jets aren't at all likely to trade Lemieux, so it seems a waste of time to imagine that they would. They specifically had him inserted into the Kane trade for a reason - because Chevy likes players that compete hard. The GM and coach both really like him per the press. Not available.

With Morrissey ready to graduate to the NHL roster now, Winnipeg has no need to move a player like Lemieux for either a D prospect or as part of a trade for a roster D.
