Quashed their spirit? They started with like 2 shots in 12 minutes, there was no spirit there to begin with.
True. They seem to be going thru the motions right now. 11 wins in a row takes a lot out of a team plus they had some luck along the way

Not worried but we need to get the PP going again. Picked up another point and are now 4 points up on Washington for 1st in the league. I'll repeat that for some on here, 4 POINTS AHEAD OF WASHINGTON FOR 1ST IN THE NHL!!!
Message heard loud and clear but the President's Trophy is not the prize that determines the best team in 2024-25 just the nest regular season team, which gets yo the last pick of the first round and in general has been a curse not a blessing.
.
But as always love your positivity.
Sincerly,
DD

No it doesn't, and no it hasn't.

President's Trophy is a sick accomplishment, but this year it feels like it means something in terms of our chances in the playoffs. If it's the difference between Minnesota/Colorado and Calgary/Vancouver that's a really big advantage to have for us.

Home ice has arguably been a playoff disadvantage for us, so that doesn't matter to me. But getting WC2 is a plus this season.

Last year it would have meant Preds instead of Colorado...

President's trophy doesn't get you last pick in the 1st round. Picks 31 and 32 go to the 2 Stanley Cup finalists.

If NYI can get 2 points that puts them in the playoff race so they will play hard and teams that play the Jets hard get at least 1 point or more.

I think we'll be lucky to get to OT with them and Comrie will most likely play so that's a 75% loss.

I don't think we see Comrie until Friday.
I think the Isles will be lucky to make it to OT.

If the Jets go 11-10 in their next 21 games.
Dallas has to go 15-7 just too tie the Jets in points and they have a home and home series.
Avs have to go 19-2 to tie the Jets.
Vegas has to go 15-7 to tie the Jets for #1 in the West and they have one game with the Jets.
Oilers have to go 18-3 to tie the Jets for #1 in the West with a home and home series.

You know what I meant. They get the 30th pick unless they make the cup geez. Semantics

Oh really....facts don't lie...
Since 1986, the year the trophy was inaugurated, the President's Trophy winner has won The Cup eight times. That is out of 37 years. So that means 29 out of 37 years an inferior team (going by the regular season) wins the championship.

You can't count 1986 to 2005 because the salary cap era started in the 2005-2006 season.

OK. I'm tempted to give you a sec to realize your fatal error here, but I don't think you'd be able to do it

You're comparing 1 finishing position vs 31 finishing positions combined

Do you think that you're smart enough to come up with a more accurate way?

I'll give you a hint... maybe compare the chances of a 1st place team winning the cup with the chances of each of the 31 other positions... and tell me which one of all the 32 finishing positions that you'd rather have the Jets finish in

I'm not entirely sure what you think you meant to prove by telling me I have a greater than 1 in 5 chance of winning the cup if I win the President's Trophy when 16 teams make the playoffs every year.

Winning the President's trophy is not the number one goal obviously but to say the Jets have a better chance to win the Cup if we don't finish 1st overall is hilarious. I guarantee you every single team in the league would want 1st overall because it's home ice advantage throughout the playoffs . Does that guarantee success ? absolutely not but it sure as hell is a bit of a advantage. Since we are saying only 8 1st place teams have won the Cup do you know how many 8th place teams have won a Cup ? 1 , a grand total of 1 whole team.

But only 16 teams make the playoffs so it would be a 6 and 1/4% chance of winning. As I have told you before teams that finish in fourth place have won three cups which is a 18 and 3/4% chance.
Like I have also said it is way more important to go into the playoffs healthy and playing well. I don't think home ice advantage gives the Jets a better chance of winning a series.

Why are limiting it to the 16 teams who make the playoffs? Don't 32 teams play the season?

Why not limit it to the finals? Or the 2nd round?

Don't be one of those guys who starts picking sample sizes to prove a point. Just because a team who finishes 17th and outside the playoffs (for example) has a 0% chance of winning the cup at the end of the season, it doesn't mean that zero isn't a number

I would rather have home ice advantage than not, last change can come in handy. I agree healthy and playing well are more important but if we are healthy and playing well that probably gives us 1st overall anyway. :thumbu:

So they are doing work to the site at midnight tonight, wonder if it's back up in time for the game tomorrow.

hilarious how @johnnyonthspot is quick to appear after every Jets L saying they'll suck in the playoffs and whatnot based on previous years.... yet this person is picking the Leafs to win the cup, the poster-team of accomplishing nothing in the playoffs. doesn't know how draft picks get slotted either? so an idiot and a closet leafs fan
