Ehlers vs Vilardi shootout stats. Ehlers 0-5, VIlardi 4-14.

This is Ehlers. Shootouts is the last column. Stats from Hockey Reference.

That was...a game.

Credit to Flyers goaltender.

Not going to say we got goalied though. Effort was subpar. A ton of play in the Jets end. Lots of trouble clearing the zone. Got better after the first half of the first, but to say it was satisfactory would be exaggerating.

Credit also to Hellebuyck. Michkov goal was pretty.

Pity point. Flyers really frustrated the Jets' offense. Played them very close, disrupted the NZ frequently, and defended well. No real good offense to be had by either team. For all of their shots, Flyers were never in any real danger to score. Sucks to lose in the shootout.
Shootouts have lost their magic. Play 10 minutes and end in ties. It is not hockey at that point and Philly used the NHL blueprint to beat the Jets. This does not bode well for a playoff run. Just saying....

Well, the Jets got goalied again, this time by Fedotov, who made some spectacular saves. The Flyers had the Jets running around and not playing their game. Winnipeg had lots of opportunities around the net, but decided to pass instead of shoot. You would think Arniel would tell the guys you can't score if you don't shoot. Oh well, on to the next game. I give this game three "Grittys" out of five (I love their mascot)...

The Prediction Contest for the game against the Long Island Iced Teas has been posted for your guesses. After two straight losing GDTs by me, I would like to suggest someone else post the next one to break the curse. See you on Tuesday! Good night...

First game in almost a month and lost 5 games in a row and Fedotov decides to play great tonight.
No big deal sometimes the puck just does not want to go into the net ... KFC still with the 4 Nations jinx. The d man glove stops a sure goal in OT.
Give the Flyers credit ... they lead the league with block shots with another 22 blocks tonight.
Blue print to beat the Jets is circulating throughout the NHL.
The shootout loss is no big deal but the subpar efforts the last 3 is concerning plus team USA ruined Connor!!

I know he hasn't scored in is 5 attempts (small sample size...) and has only 1 attempt in his last 300+ games. Just saying that Vilardi is one of the slowest players and his shot is not his strength. I think Ehlers would do much better at shootouts at this stage in his career. and I'm not a big Ehlers fan.

I think the Jets have been figured out or our Jets are cooling down. Being at the game, I noticed Philly had the edge and looked similar to the Nashville and San Jose games. Happy with the job Arniel is doing, without a doubt a good coach when he gets to know his players, but he's easy to figure out.

I don't like our playoff chances, we have to up our Shoot Out game majorly!

The Jets were running the same plays like they wanted the Flyers video team to shut them down, I had to check with my Mexican ISP to see if they weren't replaying the previous games on me. They're crafty, they can do dat.

11-1-1 in the past 12 try and zoom out a little...

Mediocre (at best) Flyers team trying desperately to claw their way back into a playoff spot vs. a Jets team that seems content to coast for a bit, yields an expected result.

As @surixon said, probably a good time for Jets to refocus. A few really ugly turnovers - the one by DeMelo in the second period stood out - that will bite us if they’re happening against good teams in the playoffs.

I don't think it's as big as deal as this. You say the blueprint is there but also comment on the subpar effort.
I would say it was a subpar effort because of the blueprint. It quashed their spirit. Helly was solid and that is good to see but my post traumatic playoff doldrums sonar is going off.
