He could change his mind. “Sorry Kaden. I’ve been warned about being in relationships with bi-polar people and I need to get away from this GM. Good luck!!!”
I mean, I bet they wouldn't be opposed to both being traded together.

But not sure someone will pony up for that.

I wasn’t thrilled to see Gee moved but they were deep at D and he wasn’t getting ice. I’m good with the Hayes and Giroux deals. Love the Kressler return. Mancini I could at least justify. Maybe even at that price. He’ll shore up the D, help protect Day physically and mentally and add a little toughness. They’d need it with the diminished offense. The Peer deal? Just stupid to spend that on an OA. Any OA. It’s not a Peer thing even. Any OA. Then to move a 17yo kid that looks like he’ll be ready to play Top 4 minutes as a solid stay at home D as soon as next year? For that return? Ridiculous unless he wanted out. And he didn’t play like he wanted out. There’s another D they should have moved if they needed to clear space. I hate the Strohack and Peer deals. How McParlan managed to come out of the deadline and still not have a 2nd round pick in 2026 is mind boggling.

+1 for laying it out in this format.

I guess Flint didn't get that much weaker this year. The main thing is they should be stronger next year as a result and have a few more picks to add to that group. In that sense the Flint deadline might not actually be quite as confusing as it seemed when it went down.
- Still make the playoffs this year
- Recoup some picks and be better next year

I don’t think they needed to add Peer to maintain a playoff position is my position though. I hated trading Ethan Hay. I liked that return though. I hate them moving Strohack. Think the return could have been better. All year long the one thing we’ve been saying in the stands is they need a *** type D. Mancini was never mentioned but he certainly fits in the category. They have like 2 wins since sometime in early December. I think their results will actually improve post deadline and Mancini’s addition will have a bigger impact on the results than the loss of any one of Hayes/Giroux/Kressler. I’ve also thought the group as a whole was a bit soft. That’s a bit different now. Peer will be an upgrade on Giroux. Mancini upgrades the D significantly. Kostov, Clattenburg and the group need to replace the the contributions of Kressler and Hayes as best as possible.

i think Clatty and Kostov, escpecially next year, will be able to produce on the scoreboard. kostov is only 17 still...and still growing into that frame. clatty will probably put up 10 goals or so, but he hits anything that moves, will fight anyone, and will go through a wall for his teammates. If Kostov can find his offensive game, like he was in the Soo, to add to his already impressive defensive game, you guys will be just fine and we both win the trade.

I must say u guys were confusing/riveting to watch this week lmao.

Definitely the most active trade deadline week we've ever had here in Flint. Some of it I completely expected and approved of and the machinations to get Giroux home to Sudbury I kind of expected then they kind of lost me with the Peer trade. After that I'm on the fence

Ewles is a good skater and good puck mover on defense. Just didn't fit in with our system in Ottawa and ended up as the odd man out. His weakness is decision-making in the d-zone, and he lacks the physicality and strength needed to absorb hits and smoothly transition out of of forecheck. If he can work on his strength and improve his play in the d-zone, he has the makings of a good 2nd pairing PMD.

Upgraded Strohack and added a 5th - give him a bone!

Ewles skates and moves the puck well, he struggled in Cameron's system but should do much better with more consistent ice time and a little more freedom... good kid!

Strohack may be better long term imo

will be watching from the Soo tonight, part of me hopes that Clatty gets into a tilt to endear himself to the Flint faithful, but that'd be his 3rd of the year so maybe want to save it till he needs it haha.

good luck tonight Firebirds!
