Next thing you know Flint will add another player for 1.5 years and pay for it in at least 4 picks.

Someone tell Flint’s GM to blink twice if he’s in distress and needs assistance. This is baffling shelling out quality picks for OA rentals upon selling.

Don't like the cost for Peer but Flint does still have to ice a hockey team after all of this is over. In their current position Flint has more draft picks then they can roster at the moment so bringing in a player who can play and hopefully set a good example for the young guys is important enough to spend a little. In the grand scheme of things this doesn't put a dent is what they have to work with.

If you don't know Peers story he was undrafted and a walk-on that earned a spot on Windsor and then turned into a point a game player. Flint could use a little of that kind of attitude, it is important for this team going forward that they develop the young guys that they have, and continue to draft and develop players. They will be hoping that Peer does for them what Panwar did for the Bulldogs last year.

There is no such thing as too many draft picks. Look at the cost for Donovan or last year with Mintyukov. You could have too many picks in the ‘24 draft but even that has better solutions. I don’t like Peer and I hate the cost. You never throw those extra picks in the division also! Flint was gonna make the playoffs regardless. No need to spend that for insurance. Save those picks for an OA NEXT YEAR MORON!!! Flint really needs to find an 18 or 19yo import with those picks before next season begins.

Until Flint repairs its reputation and changes the narrative surrounding its hockey team there are no Donovan deals to be had, they are not waiving their NTC. That starts with drafting and player development which requires some veteran leadership. Mancini and Peer while expensive will hopefully provide the leadership needed. In trading Hayes, Kressler and Girouix the draft cupboard is fully stocked, and if they have more moves coming this was needed to ensure they had players to ice a team.

It will happen...it took Saginaw 15 years to get players to report and another 5+ to become a 2nd-tier destination. It takes the right combination of coach/GM and an Owner willing to back them. That last part is the only thing that worries me about Flint...I'm not sure how committed the Owner is to finding the right solution.

In Saginaw, Garber wanted to win but just couldn't find that right combo of coach/GM. The secret sauce was divesting some Ownership and bringing in some Red Wings guys (Osgood, Devellano) and local businessman and hockey parent Brandon Bordeaux (who now is a part-owner of the Ottawa Senators). Those guys helped shape the new phase of the franchise and it obviously led to getting Drinkell/Lazary and now the Memorial Cup. It wasn't easy and we fans were sick of the revolving door of coaches (Mancini, Watson, Gilbert) but the constant was Garber trying to find the right solution and do right by the community. Not sure if Nilson has that same interest in mind but hopefully he does.

very bizarre
Or just stupid. Unless he wanted out. Grayden shows a ton of potential and is unlike any D they’ll have on the roster. So they make 3 seller moves and 3 buyer moves and it looks like McParlan has no clear plan or direction for the franchise
