come on it’s not moutry, you can’t move him for more then a depth pick
Really? I’m sure the Greyhounds fans would be completely understanding if we were talking about moving an 18yo CCHL player and a 2025 4th for Bryce McConnell-Barker here.

wishful thinking by hounds fans for sure although i also get the sense some Flint fans have set the bar so high they might not like the return... if this trade goes through.

Gavin would be the highest NHL drafted player on the Greyhounds roster by almost a full round. His PPG is higher than any Greyhound and he’s been playing in Flint this year. He just won WJC Gold. You can’t bring up a 18yo CCHL player. Kostov? Brown? Virgilio? Sure. I don’t like Brown’s game though. I also don’t like the pics the Soo has. Flint doesn’t need another ‘24 2nd they need one less actually. So that leaves only one 2nd for the Greyhounds to move. If that’s the case it’s Kostov+Virgilio+ that 2nd and something else pics wise. I’ll say it again. Look at the market and what NB and OS got for their ‘07 1sts.

Honestly? Looking at what the Greyhound have to move and what other teams are doing? I think in a few months you are once again gonna be complaining about them not setting themselves up and doing enough again to bring home a title. For the record this is usually what concerns me about Flint too.

I don't think that's unreasonable although I'd really hate to lose kostov.

I'm not sure but the hounds have a habit of giving their players that played in the world juniors an extra week off when they get home tonspend some time with family. Has been that way in the past anyway

I never stopped thinking that. Going all in this year without padding the cupboards first leaves us fewer assets to trade right now, and if we trade what's left that may come back to haunt us as we try and build around martin/hayes.

That said, the franchise is clearly going for it and this team might make me eat crow at the end of the year. I've also got plenty of time in the future for my "I told you so's" if we find ourselves lacking somewhere. For the rest of this season i'm going for the ride.

Yup. Plus he gets to go closer to home and have another shot at a run. Not sure I love Ottawa’s chances but it’s a shot.
Looking forward to see him play. As of now I agree I don't like our chances but there are rumblings Boyd is far from finished and will make a push. We'll see I guess.

I know they’re stocked with D but I would have preferred Virgilio over Clattenburg. I’m ok with it but would have liked a little more on the picks side. If I was McParlan I would have really pushed to swap Saginaw’s 2nd in 2024 that Flint owns for…..I think it’s Flint’s 2nd in 2024 that the Soo owns. Not a huge difference but it would be nice to move that pick up 15 spots or whatever.

Man you guys are going to love kostov. I'm very disappointed he went in this trade. I get you have to give to get but he's already 6'3 and will be the best penalty killer in the league by next year. Big, mean and has a scoring touch. Enjoy the next couple of years with him. I'll be cheering for him every time the birds are in the soo. And clatty is a monster that has focused on the game and taken it to another level. Two tough kids that can play.

Yup, value was hurt a little with Gavin dictating where he was going.

But still very good value overall.

Better return than Othmann brought.

Glad Gavin gets to play with Travis this year. My biggest disappointment in the whole thing is not being able to have a ceremony with Gavin and his WJC Gold pre-game. First WJC American Gold for the Birds. I’ll have to look and see but I think the Soo has at least one more game in Flint. If the Sale deal goes down I’m pretty happy with the day. Sale, Kostov, Clattenburg and a ton of picks in the cupboard now. I’m thinking we see Giroux to Sudbury for McCallum and a pick soon but we’ll see.

Man do I wish we could have watched Guryev for another 68 games. Or 30 after being suspended for 38. 😆 He actually doesn’t have a ton of minutes in the Pros and is back up the AHL currently.
