No D or goalies dressing either. No Pitre brothers tonight
Kaden played. Coulson was on the concourse. Why?
Artem - visa expired. Still in Canada. Will be on road trip this weekend. Can someone help me understand the thought process of Dent on tonight’s lineup. No Coulson or Artem and instead dress Bradshaw, Jenken and Gee.
Thank you - makes my head spin less.Artem - visa expired. Still in Canada. Will be on road trip this weekend.
Coulson -LBI
Not sure why we struggle so much at home. Not seeing him in the lineup for tonight either. No Guryev for home games where they’ve already been terrible this year isn’t good.
Not sure on Dent. I saw a couple of key turnovers by Gee on Wednesday night, on the drive home I said he probably won’t be in the lineup Friday. He seems to be a little more physical than Jenken is as well. What is Ted Dent’s fascination with Jenken over Gee too? I mean if that’s who he prefers, fine but you gotta get Gee and Strohack some time too. Right now it’s about a toss-up between Jenken and Gee for me but one’s a year younger so…..
Jenken and Gee have both had multiple glaring mistakes that ended up in the back of the net this season. It kind of comes with the territory with 16yo and 17yo rookie defensemen. Jenken has looked a bit more confident lately which is good. Young D need to get to the point where they’re just playing the game and not thinking too much. I’m cool with Jenken/Gee playing 50/50 or even a bit more in Jenken’s favor but this year is lost. Period. Get your high draft pick 16yo’s in the lineup. At this point Dent has taken a roster that was many people across the league’s pre-season favorite and turned it into a team that is barely hanging on to a playoff spot. Only Kitchener is as close to a debacle. And they just fired their coach so…..Not sure on Dent. All three of them need playing time to develop and with Artem not playing at least one will get some time (two if he puts an extra D in).
I think all the young guys (except for maybe Kaden) over think and don’t just play. It’s been a let down season for sure, will still be cheering these guys on no matter how frustrating it gets. Saw that on Ranger coach, not sure we could be so so lucky with Dent. Seems as though he has given up on the guys, not sure if that is since Otter left and if he was the reason and if felt the season was done for then. Maybe the guys just have no respect for his coaching anymore. Have noticed since the break that the scratches will either stay up in the press box during intermission or like Wednesday a couple were on the concourse, where before they would head out a minute or so before the end of the period and maybe head to the locker room.Jenken and Gee have both had multiple glaring mistakes that ended up in the back of the net this season. It finally clicked for him offensively. He's been on fire. 6 goals in his last 7, 2 multi goal games. 11 points in that stretch.Despite the team having some struggles Tristan Bertucci has been super impressive lately. It seems to me he’s went from “probably” drafted to “for sure” drafted and has to be climbing the draft boards almost every weekend lately. It kind of points to how we’ve been saying how much these kids grow and develop on D as the years go by. Tristan is going to be an absolute stud as a 19yo. Sure would be nice if they still had ‘05 James Petrovski too.
He’s been hitting more, playing even better defensively and being a bit of a nuisance post whistle. I don’t if it’s been pressed upon him by Dent, a confidant, or just himself but he played things safe, smart and simple for the first year or so. He still does mostly but now he’s jumping in the play more. Carrying the puck more and taking more chances. It’s a really good way for a D to develop in this league. The kid is smart. You could see that early in his rookie season. You knew the offense would develop but he’s been on a tear lately. I’ve liked Blake Smith’s game a bit more lately too. Another kid who’s still posting some impressive numbers though? Luca D’Amato. It finally clicked for him offensively. He’s definitely playing with more confidence and it is showing. You didn’t see him shooting or mixing it up at the beginning of the year and now he is. When Blake first came over I wasn’t to sure about him (obviously new team, new system gotta give hime a chance) and he’s stepped up as well. He’s had a few miscues but who hasn’t? Definitely missing Luca (3rd in the league in +/-), makes ya wonder how we would be if we still had him. He’s been hitting more, playing even better defensively and being a bit of a nuisance post whistle. Well now we know where the OHL writers come for ideas.Despite the team having some struggles Tristan Bertucci has been super impressive lately. Yeah. Fully agree on all of it. When Day lets in a couple the floodgates can open, so be careful with his confidence and how you handle him but he’s been equal to Cranley or close to it lately and he’ll be back next year. When he’s on he’s on, just gotta find consistency and a short memory. Another big thing was not taking some useless penalty in the first 5 minutes. I stayed at home tonight and watched the game on tv so I could get some stuff done (go figure) but I still cringed at some things Dent said in the post game interview. I’m gonna have to pull those up and watch them after I get back from the games. One of the top performances of the season. Got the offense, didn’t leave Day out to dry and he made the saves. Killed off the penalties for the most part and played it out and got the win.
Gotta roll with Day the rest of the way imo. He obviously isn’t perfect but he’s making the routine saves whereas Cranley seems to always let some bad ones through.
Where might I find the old post game interviews?Yeah. Fully agree on all of it. I have the CHL app and the OHL package on my phone/tv. I can watch any replay. Jack Snjezxwklst? interviews Dent after home games. I just never watch them because I’m at the games, not watching on tv and if I do watch a home replay it’s usually to see a few plays. Dent also does something with Channel 12 like once I week I think.Where might I find the old post game interviews?
Yeah, the Channel 12 thing is usually on Tuesday nights. Shows up on facebook and twitter for the Firebirds.I have the CHL app and the OHL package on my phone/tv. I can watch any replay. Guryev -4, Kuzmin -4. This is our problem, not our goalie. Also, Guriyev is out for 5 games. Completely unnecessary ! Dent is finding a different ways to surprise us with another questionable decision. Can't believe what I just witnessed!Knew we were going to lose as soon as Cranley was announced as starter. In any normal situation he wouldn't start another game. Also pulling the goalie on the power play with more than 4 minutes left in the 3rd was one of the stupidest moves I have ever seen from any coach in any level of hockey.
