Any thoughts on it? I don't know much about him, but seems they're going for another bigger body defenseman. Luca is smaller but has been really good on our blueline. I'll be sad to see him go.
Looks like Oshawa is trading size for a more offensive skill set on the blueline.

Likely to compensate for a potential move of Lleyton Moore.

Luca isn’t big and doesn’t play a heavy game but he’s not soft either. Really good at making the smart play and avoiding the hit. I don’t remember the last time the puck ended up in the back of the net and I said “That ones on Luca” He doesn’t wow you with much in his game but he doesn’t dissapoint either. Holds the line extremely well, makes the smart outlet pass and manages to recover if something goes awry. Flint is clearly gaining size for the playoffs but they’re losing a little offense and despite the recent 10 spot, they haven’t been prolific scorers lately. I think they may appreciate the deal next spring but really regret this in a year or two. Luca is going to a solid org with a bright future, so that’s good and Flint gets some more Blueline size.

personally oshawa wins that but i havent seen either alot lately.
We’ll see what Blake brings to the table but I can believe that. I think Luca is still in the OHL in two years and one hell of a sub 6 foot D at that point. He was good last year and even better this year. +/- may be an overrated star but when you’re leading the league that’s saying something.

I know what Ted Dent is doing and I don’t necessarily disagree. I’m still a little stuck in my old-school ways too but he does know that even in the playoffs it will be the 2023 OHL not 1998 right?

As long as they don’t slow down too much in the process…..
Be my only worry is moving out some puck movers & not getting any back. How will It effect your transition game & ability to defend speedy guys.

Though I haven't seen much of Guryev with him being in the east. Just know he's a tough son of a gun haha.

It’s a mild concern at this point. D’Amato was fairly strong in both areas. Sooooo….what teams in the OHL are the fastest? Which teams play a heavy game? If they’re towards the top in either of those areas is it whole team, forwards or Dcore that most exhibit those traits?

The only true skater they moved was D'Amato. I liked Pretrovski's game, but he was never the quickest guy. And if he played to his size, I think he would still be here. He just wasn't as physical as he could have been.

:laugh::laugh::laugh: Othmann scores, says something and points the bench, gets a 10 minute misconduct.
Yup looks like Flints bench is not an Othmann fan. I'm guessing the rumors about his locker room popularity in Flint weren't far off the mark.

Solid W tonight!

Hayes with the trick, Kuzmin with a decent +6 for the night.
No Kressler. What the hell kid? Tell me you’re just sick. No Guryev. They still get a convincing W. Good game for Smith who knows the Pete’s better than any Firebird in the game. Othmann still Othmann. One meaningless goal and a dumb 10 minute misconduct. They go EN and he has a turnover on the zone entry then is part of the failure to keep it in the zone to allow the ENG. They’ve already been a better team without him and they haven’t even added yet. If they can get a W vs either Ottawa or Kingston the weekend will be a major success.

Definitely feels a little better than normal seeing the Birds take down Othmann's Petes.

Flint is 5-1-1 since the trade, Petes are 3-3. Obviously a small sample size, but seems like the team is doing much better, regardless of whatever drama was happening before. Addition by subtraction?

If they can just split the next two, it's hard to complain about 4 out of 6 pts on the eastern road trip.

Yeah... pretty low class to pull that crap. Great talent but needs to stop the crap. He will get eaten alive in the NHL pulling that crap.

On a positive note... we looked good again last night. Guys are stepping up and it's showing. Now if Piercey could maybe find the back of the net a bit more.
