Had to be a very easy choice.

Congratulations Ted. No matter how the rest of this year goes, it’s made me forget what expectations were at the beginning of the season and how concerned we were at the beginning at the hiring of Christensen and Dent. One worked out way better than we thought and the other issue solved itself.

Absolutely outstanding 3rd period.

Not sure why every review takes 10 minutes there, pretty ridiculous.

Not sure I've ever seen 9 Penalty Minutes taken off the board in the same game, let alone the same period.

That was absolutely ridiculous.

They were both overturned in my Attacks favour, but I'd rather they'd drop the video review and let the refs make their own mistakes .
It ruined the flow of the game.
Hockey is a spontaneous game, I'd rather risk the ref flubbing the odd call, than stop the game and call on robo ref .
Yes your Firebirds certainly showed up the Attack tonight .

Our guys made too many critical mistakes that ended up in the net .
Keppen was immovable, I thought he was your best guy.

The birds used speed , hard forecheck and persistence.
Great effort and win .

See you next Tuesday .

The 2024-2nd sent to PBO was part of the conditions of Lalonde trade with Guelph

Moving on up

Erie just did basically the same trade. I don’t particularly care for those trades under almost any circumstance. They basically just gave away a 3rd round pick. I prefer to see them stockpile picks by trade not reduce assets. Sooooo....they have a mid 2nd round pick this year. Will likely make the team and contribute some to a lot next year but is HIGHLY unlikely to be a difference maker at 16. Under optimal circumstances, he will be in 2 years but that’s a pick that will truly realize it’s value 3-4 years down the road. So what’s the plan for next year? You need to replace Cavallin. Piercey, Panwar, Deline, Terry, Mayotte will be OA’s next year. I figure they keep Piercey, Panwar and Deline. Kuzmin, Deline, D’Amato, Bertucci, Petrovski, MacLean will be there with a couple fresh 16, 17yo’s but you still need to add a veteran D I think. Now you gotta look at replacing Keppen and Bertuzzi. Sure, all the kids will be better but there will be more teams like adding like Hamilton did next year. Those picks you need to acquire the likes of Xhekaj and McTavish? You need a lot of them. Flint doesn’t have a lot of them and they just traded two quality picks away so they can have a 16yo 2nd rounder on the roster. So what’s the plan for 22-23? Because you just reduced your purchasing power by a fair bit. Are they gonna not buy anything this year and then sell-off next year? It makes little sense.

I still think it is better to have a 2nd round pick tomorrow night, then to not have one. This year we have 5 of the first 58 picks while last year we only had four. I also like having 3 3rd round picks. Hopefully, we can hit on a couple of these picks. However, we will need to add/trade for a 2nd pick for 2023 because we are now without one

I assume there’s some players they have their eye on in that range…I hope they use one of those first 3 picks on some defense then use the others on offense…will be nteresting to see which route they go

Yeah, I agree. With Bettucci, Petrovski, MacLean already in the fold I want the first rounder to be a forward though.

Flint will be able to move some pieces in the off season such as at least 2-3 02s and recoup picks. They have enough picks in the future should they need to acquire their much needed goalie, dmen to compete for Mem Cup.

By acquiring a 2nd tonight and keeping 3 3rds its clear that they want to compete next year and ensure that they also compete around the 03s 04s 05s and 06s in the next few years.

Unfortunately, for Flint to get high end goalie or dman, they may have to trade one of their prospects such as one of their 05 d men or maybe 06 first rounder?

Would not be shocked to see whoever we draft in round 1 tonight not finish the season with us next year.

Yeah. Don’t get too attached to this one. It’ll be the latest 1st Rnd selection they’ve ever had though. Wouldn’t break my heart if he doesn’t even report and they go the defect route again. As far as goalie replacement goes, even really good ones tend to not be ridiculously expensive. Upgrading to elite or super high end Forward or D always costs more.

Interesting pick taking Coulson Pitre's brother Kaden Pitre.
Looks like he is a lot like his brother. Almost like drafting another Coulson not as much AAA history to look at but his numbers were close to Coulson's in the past season. Looking at him it isn't hard to tell they are brothers.

Hmmmm. That might be a bit of a reach in the 1st but he’ll report. Kid looks just like Coulson and is at the rink all the time. I wouldn’t expect him to be traded as much now. They don’t need D but I REALLY liked Anthony Cristoforo’s game at the OHL Cup and they could have had him. From what I read earlier this year, I like the next two picks. Cool. Glad they got Kaden. It’ll be fun to watch the Pitre brothers together. If he’s anything like Coulson this’ll be good.
