Are there teams that might be desperate for some cap space for a TDL deal with an expiring middle 6 C?

I'm almost thinking Toronto with Tavares, but that makes no sense unless the goalie Treliving can snag is one hell of a big fish and they're also looking to retool their middle 6 for speed or something.

Depends on a quality of center, but seems like a waste of assets. The hot start will end, and they'll fade. Calgary needs to properly rebuild.

Do they? What is their prospect pipeline looking like? Some teams are able to quickly rebuild if they have a strong NHL supporting cast in place that are not good enough to win with consistently, but add a few stars in the draft who can step into roles right away.

The "rumor" states that Calgary is looking for an age appropriate center for what they are trying to do and this thread is full of 30+ year old cap dumps.

This is nothing new. Conroy has clearly identified an age group of 21-26 in most if not all of his deals. Names like Norris, Mercer, Greig, Cozens, etc.. fit the bill whether or not they are available is another story.

If that is true, with some luck a rebuild could be pretty quick. Leafs had Kadri, Bozak, JVR, Rielly, Komarov, Gardiner, etc on the roster that got Matthews, they just put them on LTIR for most of the year haha. Next season there was a vet supporting cast and Matthews filled that hole for us.
