Flames have some good depth, even though their top forwards aren't elite. It's one reason Pelletier didn't make the team.

Yeah, Calgary has good depth upfront with Zary & Pospisil really stepping up. They were huge in that comeback win over Vancouver.

The D is a big issue, though. Andersson and Weegar are the only 2 legit NHL, D for now. They'll need Bahl to step in as a #3, because the rest is just a lot of castaways.

We'll see how Wolf does now that he's a #1.

Unless it wins 1OA then we have to do the whole thing over again. But also Florida's pick is top 10 protected, so just missing the playoffs by Florida is best for us.
Yeah, but if the pick ends up in 2026, they get the better of the 2 picks, no condition or protection.

Calgary is just starting their rebuild. They may be even worse in 2026 if they trade a few vets, so that should be a very high pick.

Slim chance of that happening anyway.

Hoping Miromanov ends up being a steal. Their GM was talking him up at the time of the trade.

Yeah but next year the Florida Panthers would have Barkov back.

So if Barkov is out long term, this is the year to hope to cash in on the pick.

Oh sorry, the better of the two picks - then yeah, good position to be in.

We need to keep the coals hot in this thread…

Panthers lost, and Flames don’t look like an awful team thus far.

Well, Panthers were without Tkachuk, Barkov & Bobrovsky.

Flames are a hard working bunch & have some decent depth upfront. I don't think they'll be a bottom 5 team. They're currently beating the Flyers 3-2, but mostly because Wolf has been excellent and Flyers goalie has been crap.

Florida finishes the night at #10. Calgary #27.

If Florida finishes top 10, we get Calgary's pick, #1 OA pick protected. We need Calgary to suck a little more.

I'm sure Calgary will start sucking plenty soon....The more points they pick up early, the more it will hurt their ability to finish very low in the standings.

They have a team shooting percentage of about 20% through the first 2 games.
