Utah with 2-0 lead over Calgary. If Utah holds onto that, they jump into WC1 spot. Seattle stays in WC2 & Calgary falls to 9th and out of a playoff spot.

They're tied with Seattle in points, RW, etc, but Seattle holds the +/- differential. They're +6 now thanks to that 8-2 win over Montreal. Lol

Flames bottomed out too fast.

Good news we might be able to target Andersson.

Bad news is they didn't build enough of a buffer to keep themselves from the bottom 10.

Good news is Philly and Pittsburgh look like crap this year and probable bottom 10 teams. SJ/CHI/ANA/MTL/CBJ should all be bottom 10 too. Columbus started strong but will fall off.

We need a few of Detroit, St. Louis, Utah, Buffalo and Seattle to keep playing mediocre hockey. A surprise NYI or Nashville bottom 10 finish would also be very nice.

Imagine Calgary finishes 10th and then drops one spot in the lottery, that would be glorious.

Except for the CGY/FLA 1st, it should stay about the same until draft. My only wish is Calgary keeps overachieving until trade deadline and be in the mix for the playoffs, so they don't sell.

I think with the poor defensive play and the goalies we got, Habs picking 8OA will be the absolute latest. Wouldn't be surprised if we draft top 5 again.

That pick be about 30th. Florida powerful team. Down the middle with Tkachuk, Bennett and Lundell. Strong team.
Yeah I keep cringing every time a Edmonton fans believe they will win the stanley cup in 2025. Florida is one of the most complete team in the league. They have everything to win the cup in 2025.

Would be awesome. The way things are trending though, we'll get the Florida 1st, but our 1st will be a lot better than 8th... Just hoping the Pens 2nd is top 45, and we use it in a package, or gamble on a talent like Hutson that falls.

We’re not aiming for that pick anyways….the hope is that Calgary sucks but doesn’t suck enough to be bottom 10.

It still seems fa fetched to me to get the Fkames pick. But we'll see what that scrappy bunch can do...

if neither pick is top 10, we get the higher of the two. If Flames pick is Top 10, we get the Panthers pick.

Correct.

If both Florida and Calgary are from 11-32, then we take the higher of the pick.
If Calgary is a top 10, we take Florida’s pick
If Florida is a top 10 (unlikely), we get Calgary’s pick
If both is a top 10 (unlikely), we get the higher of the top 10 pick (except for 1st overall)
If Calgary’s pick is 1st overall, and Florida’s pick is top 10 (unlikely), our pick is deferred to 2026.

Out of all these scenarios, the most likely is both Calgary and Florida not top 10 pick. So most likely we will get 11-32.

Still we got two first round picks to take on a contract.

You mean like taking a Alex Newhook?

Nope. Alex Newhook got traded for a late first round pick and a 2nd round pick.

One of the Monahan first was part of a trade for Michael Hage.
So Monahan for Hage and this year’s first round pick.

Calgary will throw their season. Instead of giving up top 10 pick. Big difference between 10 and 32

In no world would an owner miss out intentionally on playoff revenue to avoid giving up a pick at 11-15 in the draft.

The only way that happens is if they are already out of the playoff picture and they sell at the deadline. But if they remain 'in the mix' they will not tank their playoff aspirations on account of an owed pick from 2 summers ago.

I wanted the Habs to do better this year, but I guess an 8th and 15th could be a good way to end the rebuild.

Florida is weaker than last season but Oilers are a lot weaker. Panthers sadly don't ever seem to get injuries so they will likely go far in the playoffs. Oilers likely won't.

True, but if they are way out of contention near the deadline they will make sure they finish bottom 10.

In no world are the Flames a playoff team. They finish .500 at best. They aren't going to give up a top 10 pick for half a dozen points at end of meaningless season.
