Brady has been a distraction for more than a few years now. This is cutting ties when it needed to be done. A season or two more this circus would have been detrimental to the team. Can't have your Captain half-assing it wishing he was playing somewhere else. Get what you can and move on.

Brady quit on the Sens.
Yeah, every time I got to watch Ottawa this year I felt like they were a better team than the results showed. Something was majorly off there...

I get Brady is a good player, but I wouldn't be the least bit shocked if the Sens are better off overall. Gotta put those picks to work.

Cause it is bad.

9th OV in a weak draft, 2 late 1sts, one of which is 3 years from now and a 2nd for a very good NHL player. Maybe in 5 years they have one person even close to Brady's level. If you are trading players of this level you need far more than lower end lottery tickets.
Wtf? This isn’t a weak draft at all.

I used to like Bradys game a few years ago but it's been like 2 years that he's been cherry picking and plays no D. Doesn't really help ottawa win

I think the value/return Ottawa got is decent for a 4 team trade ask

If they win or lose the trade all depends on what they do with the assets but it's pretty good value for a captain quitting on his team. They are prob better off without him

He's gonna do great in Florida though

Another American born star player leaving a Canadian team for the U.S. The grass must be greener on the other side.

Next will be Hellebuyck. Possibly Matthews within the next 2 years, maybe even next season if the Leafs struggle next year and decide to blow it up.

Brady Tkachuk is one of the most overrated players in the league and I'll die on that hill.

Still, Florida's roster is an embarrassment of riches and should be the runaway Cup favourites going into next season at this point.

As an Oilers fan, I can only dream of having an owner, GM/front office and provincial tax rate like Florida's

I posted in the NHL talk board that I would move on from Brady if the price checks out. Not sure about not getting any roster players in the trade, but three first rounders is a steep price to pay for any player. Personally I wouldn't want the Sens to part ways with 3 first rounders for a Brady Tkachuk. It now really depends on what steps Staios takes next.

Brady is a good power forward, but I wouldn't call him a superstar. I don't think he's as bad as what rival fans are saying, but he's also not as good as what a lot of Sens fans liked to claim either. His play in the playoffs this year was extremely disappointing and he overall looked like he had already checked out mentally. He was far more enthusiastic and had far more energy when it came to the national team over the Sens.

I also think he became too much of a distraction for the team in general and the Sens played well when he was out of the lineup due to injury(which is why all the rebuilding talk makes no sense).

I understand that Helle warrants a good return. Just pointing out where Zito draws the line. With that said, what about a situation where Helle demands a trade to Florida? Rodrigues and Boqvist to clear cap and any draft pick still available plus prospect is about as much as Florida can offer. Jets of course can say screw that but is that a situation they want to go through?

Can't see them trading Hellebuyck for spare parts. Hellebuyck has 5 more years, and next summer, his full NMC goes to a 10 team approved list. He'll just play one year here and then go to any of the 10 teams on his list. He can't even really hold the team hostage at that point since he's still got 4 years from that point, so it's not a "get something for me before I leave in UFA" scenario like it was with Brady.

Sort of like how Florida struggled for years and finally broke through in 2024

East is 100% going to run through FLA and CAR for at least the next couple seasons unless Kucherov/Vasi can figure out how to be consistent in the playoffs again
TB really missed Hedman and now they’ve lost Raddysh, but they aren’t even finished yet, how can anyone write off Fla?

...says NO ONE but you...show your work...or is it just more opinion??...

What is so good about it? McKenna is considered to be good, but isn't considered in the Celebrini, Matthews, Bedard etc, level, and the rest of the names are not that hyped. This year most of the names at the top are not names many are familiar with, when lately most years the top 5-10 were talked about a lot.

...are you serious??...McKenna isn't even considered the consensus #1 this year; Stenberg, Malholtra, and the plethora of Top End D are right up there with him (Reid, Verhoeff, Carels, Smits)...so because YOU haven't kept up to date means people aren't "talking" about them??...why bother posting about something you seem to know nothing about??...

Devils advocate, but he let them know ahead of time that he wasn't going to extend and they were able to recoup solid value. He played for the Sens for 8 years. At the end of the day, like him or not, he is entitled to play for a different team if he wants. If he didn't give them a hard answer then walked for nothing the outrage is probably more justified imo

May as well just hand the cup to Florida for the foreseeable future ! Traded him for magic beans !!

From Florida's POV, they paid Samoskevich + 2 1sts for Tkachuk which made it a lot more palatable for them.

Ottawa made the most out of the situation, but let's be honest any team would prefer a 26 yr old, 70-80 pt power forward over what Ottawa received.

At the end of the day, Brady hasn’t really carried the team in the way you’d expect him to. He (among others) was a ghost this playoffs, which isn’t what you’d expect from a) your captain and b) someone of his ‘echelon’. Heck. The team had a better record without him this season than with!

We all knew Brady would go, we haven’t lost him for nothing (yet!) and the off ice distraction has gone. Could the result be better? Of course. But are hands were likely pretty tied about playing with his brother, and no doubt his pos agent probably had some doing in it all as well.

But yeah, glad he’s done tbh. Remind me in a year about how I still feel with where we are

Both of the Tkachuk's are fakes and posers. Mouthguard chewing guys that would rather chirp than show up. All attitude and bluster until someone shows up that will punch them in their weak faces.

Both of them know that they are too mentally weak to succeed in a real hockey market. Both just floaters that dont want to be humiliated when they have to answer the call in a city that understands what commitment to hockey really means.

I am looking forward to when real hockey markets are finally rid of this era of fake hockey "superstars".
