I don't see why anyone is shit talking Tkachuk here. He didn't ask for a trade, all he did was tell Ottawa he didn't intend on re-signing in 2028. He had a full NMC and was allowed to pick any locations he wanted to go to with that. Ottawa took what they thought was the best deal from a team Florida would waive for.

It's just annoying that the team ended up Florida. Tkachuk did nothing wrong here, and neither did the Senators. They knew he wouldn't re-sign, so they wanted to cash in on his value now rather than wait.

The rest of the league's best hope now is to keep sending their podcast free BBQ and burgers as "sponsors" and hope they blow up to parade float size like the old man.

People keep saying this. The Sens can use those picks in trades to acquire roster players.

People are acting like Ottawa has to just draft 4 players with the 4 picks.
They ”can” but it’s not a given.

- Player has to be available
- Player (realistically) needs to be interested in going to / signing with Ottawa
- Player has to be legit top 6 caliber
etc.

It’s totally fair to question this return until subsequent moves happen.

I mean we know what the value of the 25th pick and a 2nd is. Mackie Samoskevich. That's the kind of roster player you can expect with half the return.

2029 1st very likely to be in the 25th overall range too.
