I'm always extremely pro-players in contract negotiations, on the side of "they should maximize what they can get". So - although it's not unexpected that he took a more team friendly deal, he certainly could have gotten more.

Very good player and a good deal. Barkov is not quite a top-5 Centre(he's maybe 7th or 8th) so 10M is an appropriate dollar amount for him. And it's good for Florida, having him locked up for 8 years.
