Confirmed Trade: [FLA/CHI] Seth Jones (26.3% retained; $7M AAV) and 2026 4th round pick for Spencer Knight and 2026 1st round pick

They’re basically paying him what Montour signed for in Seattle (~7/year). They felt like they needed a stronger RD going into the playoffs.

Very happy with this.

Knight has so much talent, you could tell by watching him he’s the type that will be much better with age. The confidence he plays with is apparent.. he gets down on himself so quickly, but when he’s playing well he’s a top tier goalie.

We couldn’t pay a backup what he’s making, it’s a really good deal for both here.

brother I dont understand why you are having a melty over a trade happening when a regular season game is going on?

there will be 6 NHL games overlapping it tonight. that is how much the NHL itself cares about "taking shine" away from it. Life goes on and the world does not stop.
Whats a melty? A meltdown?

If you view a simple conversation as a meltdown, Id look inward

Easy win for Florida. Goalies are voodoo, and they already have Bob. 2026 1st should be a late pick. They get a top 4 RHD with term and 25% retention. Surprised Chicago couldn't get Cowan, 2026 1st and Minten from the Leafs with the retention :sarcasm:
Pretty much this.

Anytime you can get a very good top 4 D for a late 1st and a goalie prospect, it’s a win. Who knows what the 1st will be and goalies are very unpredictable. Plus, Knight has had some injury and mental health issues I believe…

Great deal for the Panthers. People down on Jones are going to change their opinion really soon with him on a good team. At 7M with the rising cap it's a very fair contract. I'm quite pissed the Avs couldn't beat this offer (no offense to Knight) but at least he's not going to Dallas.

FLA become instant favourites again IMO

In the last years Florida turned quite a lot subpar D men into serviceable D men…Staal, Gudas, Forsling, Mikkola…
Jones should keep his fingers crossed for a repeat.

Edit: whoa, that’s steep. I was not convinced of Knight either, but still…
Must be there system because they are crap.
