I believe it's fine, see Vermette. iirc hat clause is if salary is retained the contract can't be traded back while retention is effective.

I love Mason Marchment and will never forgive Keith Yandle for costing the Panthers a chance at re-signing Marchment, but it's close, IMO. Marchment takes an insane number of stupid penalties and certainly has defensive warts. Absolutely love what a piece of shit he is, as well as his ability to score in tight spaces, though.

I don't see it. I don't feel Brad double crossed/screwed over the Bruins here. They were never going to get much for him with the injury (on top of his age/UFA status).
