@Lafleurs Guy I just finished a Phanang. Pretty good. It's like Khao Soi but without the pickles and crispy noodles.

Thailand is a pretty vast country with diverse offering and the monsoon doesn't hit the same every where at the same time. So far I've only gotten bad weather in Krabi and I've stayed here 3 days. It rains 15 minutes and then it's sunny 1 hour.

A 12h layover with activities beats a 3 hour one in my book but to each their own. Plus it allows you to ease into the time zone much better.

This is also the only time I could take 3 weeks off and my girlfriend too and I wanted to train Muay thai a bit.
Having experienced unseasonal monsoons, hurricanes, typhoons and flash -floods, the adage ''once bitten twice shy '' rings true for my holiday plans. Nothing worse than having to be evacuated while having no electricity or water. These type destinations are typically already oppressive with the high heat and humidity and experiencing without air-conditioning and what-not compounds the misery. Call it shit luck but if I get that during the so called ''safe'' season, no way am I risking it during the recommended ''do not travel to '' season, know what I'm saying. I just don't see the urgency to go, Thailand and Thai boxing will always be there, even during the more palatable dry season. But as you mentioned, to each their own. Stay safe and happy travels!

Down 25 pounds. Up to six chinups. Can now do dips without assistance. Sailed through the 165 test. Nice to see progress.

Had my day all planned out and then... my daughter tonight baked a chocolate cake. Oh well. Program was fun while it lasted.

Question for the class:

I look at the calories in a Betty Crocker cake slice and it’s only 240 (without the icing.) Are they omitting the oil and eggs? Probably right?

Took a shot to my right blade and the plastic holder broke and had to leave the game early. Never thought to bring an extra pair of skates but will from now on and just leave them in the trunk.

Just check on the package box, all the nutritional information will be on something like this:

Is this like a cake mix, to which you add oil and eggs, or what is it?
Betty Crocker baby.
I'm guessing their "Slice" is the size of a post-it note.
Doesn’t matter. You can do the math to get the whole cake and then put in the size of your slice from there.

But yeah it’s 1/10 of the cake. Who only eats that?

I looked at that. But I don’t know if it includes the additives like eggs and oil. I’m guessing it doesn’t.

Edit: Aha! Just noticed it shows mix and prepared. That’s the difference there. Thanks!

So it’s a 2800 calorie cake and that’s without icing. Makes a lot more sense.

Frosting is 1820 cals per cake. So in total it’s 4620 calories per cake. Which means I ate a billion calories yesterday.

Worth it.

What do you guys use to track steps?
I have an Apple Watch and Fitbit. I actually can’t stand the Apple Watch and prefer the Fitbit by a landslide. Apple Watch dies every 18 hours which is ridiculous imo. It was a gift from work, so I kept it, but it’s hot garbage imo.

I get a rush when that buck walks out. Sort of like when Habs win the cup. But not quite, very close though.
Sure can understand the excitement about seeing animals in the wild, my instinct is to say, how beautiful or cute or words to that effect and perhaps take a photo. Not to murder it and watch it suffer as it slowly bleeds out and painfully dies, I'm not a sadistic barbarian or a psychopath yet I still enjoy playing where's Waldo.

No problemo. For the health conscious it's always a good thing to read the Nutrional information about what is being consumed. What one consumes is a choice, unlike prescribed medicine which is a pandora's box. Some foods that appear moderately healthy at the onset are far from that upon closer scrutiny. Combat caloric intake with a fitness regime that best suits the individual. Oh and seeing some other posts, if you're eating sensibly and have a dedicated fitness regime, no need to count steps, if you're counting steps, consider evaluating better options.

My progress has been real nice. Body composition has changed quite a bit despite the weight not really being much different. I lost 5lbs but it feels I gained 10lbs of muscle. Sports performance is much better, a lot more speed and acceleration due to putting it in my training split. Only thing is I can't recover like I could in my 20s anymore. One thing I noticed was an involuntary benefit is that due to life obligations, I've had to be very efficient in my training. I never ego lift either. It makes it so I'm always well rested, haven't had an injury and the progress I feel has been faster than expected. I actually wish I did less in my 20s.

Take measurements. That will really give you an idea of your progress.

Nah, I don't care about that, only how I feel and the mirror. For reference I'm around 180lbs give or take at 5'10" with six pack abs. I'm basically all posterior chain, quads and back though from years of squatting, deadlifting and playing hockey/skiing.

It’s still cool to see. Especially if the scale isn’t moving. I had a couple of months with the scale not moving much at all but I was losing inches around my waist.

I got back from Thailand today.

Oof, why am I here lol ? Looked to hit pads with someone and no one can and it's super sunny outside. Rip my Muay thai journey.

I weighed myself and I'm at 204 lbs, the lightest I've been since 2014 or so. I still feel heavy though, and my cardio isn't too good as I think I caught Dengue in my first week in Thailand.

I also fell on my back while roundhouse kicking the banana bag and hurt my back again. It's cool to be cool.

I'm going back in 2025 to fight, I'm almost certain. Totally hooked.

I’d offer to help but I don’t train with pipsqueaks
