It would be nice if the other leaders took care of business and not to rely on a 21 year old rookie. Maybe Kreider should do something, he did this when Hank got ran into from Eakin. No excuse now. Trocheck I won’t be shocked if he does something considering what happened at the end of the game. Trouba should lay out Barzal if he can actually catch him.

yea this is definitely not rempe's business to handle. i could care less if he fights or not, that does nothing. if he plays, i hope he's simply one of 18 guys who go out there playing with a nasty edge to them, and that the guys who have more of that in them really make it a point to finish hits hard. i'd love to see trouba, schneider, or lindgren put one of their big names in the crosshairs open ice. don't make it an accident...put it on display.

Take care of business? What did you want them to do? That wasn’t a dirty hit, it looked accidental and they were losing the game. The hit at the end was dirty if you want retaliation there, fine but there’s 5 seconds left.

Not showing up ready to start the game has been a problem for a good five or six head coaches by now.
Lousy starts, agreed

Get used to it. Piles fans are the worst. 2 weeks ago they were crying about how bad their team was and now they are chirping because they barely hung on and won a game. A lot of people on this board weren't around when these teams last met in the playoffs 30 years ago. It's a hoot. Not worried about that team at all.
I’m one of the people that wasn’t around for the last playoff meeting. The prospect of losing to them in a 7 game series scares the shit out of me-even more so because we’re so much better.

To piggy back on what I mentioned above about them not being prepared for games and have awful 1st periods...

This was a problem under Gallant, as well.

It's not coaching at this point. It's the core veterans.

Didn't see this before my last post saying the same. Agreed. This veteran core is never ready. I'm not sure anything is going to change when the playoffs start. When have they ever made a series short?

We do poorly in the 1st period based on goals but the shots pretty much remain constant across periods.

There's probably not actually that much to it and we're just reacting to goals.

Last night, yes. We were terrible in the first period. Against Montreal, we were also losing early and we weren't terrible. That's just what happened.

Zibanejad 100% was not looking and skated into Pelech on his own, and Pelech just rolled up and stopped. Both looking at one end of the ice and kinda just...drifting.

Unintentional hit, easily, but I don't blame Lavi for defending his guys. Next Isles game gonna be silly drama theatre now that the fanbases have been fed.
An accident, or accidental play is something that happens when you're not expecting it to happen, meaning you don't have time to react to something that is seconds or a fraction of a second from happening. In this case, it's very clear that Pelech sees and knows what is/will happen and completely avoids the impact from happening, while simultaneously bracing himself from the impact. I don't think it's a vicious hit by any means, but Pelech knew exactly what was happening at all times.

I do think Pelech intended to make contact / interfere with Zibanejad on his way to the bench. The way he alters his trajectory and fully braces for impact are the giveaways to me. But I don't think it was particularly dirty and ultimately only made head contact / was an issue because Zibanejad was off in la la land as he cut across the ice without looking.

Well said. Along with his reaction of sticking his arms out to protest right away as somebody pointed out

I think Lav knows that hit on Zib wasn't a dirty or intentional but I don't think he cares. He's doing it for his team because he has their backs. He's a coach.

I agree. Definitely some gamesmanship by him. Trying to rally his team and keep the intensity high through these relatively meaningless games heading into the POs. Would love to see a response on Saturday but priority also has to be the team staying healthy heading into next week.

Wasn't he the Caps' coach for the Wilson incident? I remember him saying something like it wasn't a big deal, just some after the whistle stuff. Hated hearing it then but loved his response last night from our coach. He's probably working the refs too, putting it out there that the Islanders are dirty, just in case they play the Islanders in the first round.

After watching it a few times, I think Pelech absolutely knew what we was doing there. How often do guys stand in the neutral zone with their elbows out at 90 degrees and their stick off the ice? Dude was clearly bracing himself for something.

Hope the boys seek out some vengeance this weekend. That was some classless shit in the 3rd. They easily could've knocked out our top 2 centers 3 games before the playoffs start, and like always the league turns a blind eye to it.
That is in character for that scumbag team/organization. They've ALWAYS been that way.

true but the Islanders weren't even trying to get up ice, they were just collapsing protecting their lead.
Try all they want, when the Rangers decide they want to win they have zero chance.

As I mentioned in the GDT, they can't go into the playoffs and continue this trend of only playing approximately 20 minutes. Falling behind 3-0 in the playoffs against better teams is pretty much a death sentence.
I think the Ranger players KNOW this very well.
