Biggest issues are Trouba and Mika.

Trouba in all facets has been horrible.... absolute dog water

Mika is useless 5v5. Makes me want to break my tv when he forces pass to Kreider on the PP
For all the talent, Mika is a beta. Not much killer instinct among a bunch of these guys. There's no sandpaper or moxie to be found.

Professional goalie that's one of the smartest analysts on TV: Igor should have had goals 2 and 3.

Igor either hides the problems or exposes them.

We've seen what he's capable of. I've yet to see this team dominate and produce 5v5 long term. I'm not worried about Shesty because he's dominated the past decade. He'll be fine

Our defense has been AV bad. We're weakening all around. It's not just one area. That is the problem. ITS EVERYTHING

he gets pushed around.... never fights back. Easy target

This is the best league in the world, the amount of games you can dominate for 60 minutes you can probably count on one hand all season. And those usually come against terrible teams.
And everyone here thought the Isles would miss the playoffs, and although it’s still early, the Isles are in head of us in the standings and just about every other metric.

Good team on an up and down portion of the season. Everything is fixable. 91% is great for a backup, and great for John Vanbeisbrouck in 1988, but it’s a major drop for Shesty. If he’s back up to .925, the team is fine.

I know no one cares about the charts but seriously, just try to remind me of the great chances the Isles had in the third period that weren't directly caused by the refs botching a call?

The Isles scored three goals due to one botched call? Or were there other botched calls that directly led to a goal aside from the trip right before they scored their third of the period?

Produce? No. That's the other problem. They have sure as hell been the better team 5 on 5 in virtually every game they've played this season. We're not going to never give up high danger chances. As a goalie you need to stop them at a much higher rate than Igor has. This is like arguing MAF had a good game against the Rangers because he faced a lot of high danger chances. We're a top team in both shots for and against, the offense needs to produce more but the goaltending has been a big fat 0. Oh and our GF% HDCF% were both top 10 going into this game and will improve after this game.

They controlled play for 2 periods. I just don't know where their fight is for the 3rd. Last year 3rd was our best period.

Also, Igor has to come up big in the third. Too often the Rangers are in 1 goal games but have double the shots. He's no Hank.

Also, more players like Trocheck. Less like everyone else. Especially panarin.
Tough take, though I’ll give you Trocheck seems to be the best move of the off-season. I think Blais looked good. Laf is officially concerning.

In what way does this respond to what I said?

But sure, the tying goal and the winning goal were off a terrible call and non-call respectively.

Going out and getting Carpenter over figuring a way to retain Motte was a huge error. The penalty killing would be so much better. 5v5 would be better with Motte's motor. No offensive contributions from Blais. Hugely underwhelming the both of them.

Moneypuck has us at 70% on the deserve-to-win-o-meter for this game.

We are experiencing inter-seasonal hockey balancing of the force right now.

All the games we should have lost last season but won by virtue of Igor playing out of his helmet are now being paid back in games we should win but lose with Igor being sub-par.

I’m at the point where I don’t care about the refs anymore. Every f***ing game people complain about them as if that’s the reason we lost.

We gave up 3 goals in the third is the reason. At most I’d agree with the last goal being bs, but kill the f***ing penalty if it’s a bad call. Their PK has been shit.

Giving up few chances in the third means absolutely nothing if most of those chances all led to goals.
