What's your point? We didn't get to see if Pickard wouldn't have got lit up while Skinner was posting shutouts either.
So he's like most NHL coaches, then? (Except, like, DeBoer and we see how that worked out for him).
Well, they're right. Skinner is technically a better goalie than Pickard, but his issue is consistency.
My point is, you're stating that like he wouldn't have found the first reason to go back to Skinner like he has in the past (Pickard was not injured when he put Stu back in vs Vancouver last year, it was after Pickard's first loss, which wasn't even a bad game).
Most coaches don't wait until the game is out of reach to pull a goalie. An extreme example the other way doesn't prove your point
Pickard is by far the more athletic goalie and has a better xGA. Big dummy goalies aren't the current league meta, you need some athleticism to make clutch saves. This is an org that now pushes its analytics base (Knob includes himself in this self-assessment) and yet they continue to trot out the statistically worse goalie in modern playoff history and shrug their shoulders when he sucks
