He is getting his arse handed to him in the Final. He’s shown he can adjust and Game 4 is where he turns series around. Hopefully he gets this series turned in the right direction Breakouts up the walls which have to stop and his special teams are miserable right now.

He's a good, albeit inexperienced, coach. But he's still being out smarted by the opposition. Guy has no pulse. Can't seem to settle the troops down either.

Oilers outplayed the cats in the first two games so the first time we have an off game he is suddenly getting outsmarted and outcoached? He's trying to shelter nurse hence the changes to the pairings last game.

Some of the posts in here are wild. In his first (not even full) season he takes us to game 7 in the finals and we're in the finals again this year. Everyone take a deep breath and realize that losing game 3 isn't the end of the world.

The team, the players, were in a weird head space and the game got away from them in the meantime.

He needs to settle the troops. Take a timeout. Something. When its getting out of hand, he needs to rein the team in.
Skinner wasn't getting the job done but he still kept him in until it was too late. Thats a coaching issue.

However, it hasn't been good enough

Coach Q would have this team up 2-1 and they likely would have won in the Finals last year

Not just McDrai era but he has been the best Oilers coach in the last 30 yrs for me. Top 3 in the NHL right now.

He needed to reign them from the endless scrums starting in Game 2. Paid for it in Game 3 as it got 10 times worse and we played into Floridas hands. That’s coaching.

Notice we couldn’t break out in 5 of the last 6 periods? That’s from endlessly trying to break out up the sealed wall that Florida presents. That’s coaching.

One can be critical of the coach without being “toxic”.

We never got to see if he would have bounced back to his boy after Pickard had a bad game

That he never pulls the guy until he lets in 5+, even when he looks shaky from the start, doesn’t give me a lot of faith that he wouldn’t have found a reason to go back to Skinner regardless

He, along with Dustbin and the management unironically think Skinner is a better goalie than Pickard

I guess kudos to him for having more balls than Woody and actually starting another goalie in the playoffs

Well, they're right. Skinner is technically a better goalie than Pickard, but his issue is consistency.
