He doesn’t have to be the captain if we get him.

Captain Cuylle can handle those responsibilities

I just can't keep reading this infantilization of the team. And if the posts were critical of these players for it, I'd be like ok. Instead we get people defending the Rangers pouting because of hockey moves and blaming Drury. I wish I were babied like this at my job (whenever I find a new job).

The team did it to themselves. No one cares about this shit if you win. I certainly don't.

All of the players people hate because they do art, and shit in Laf's helmet, and personally murdered Gerard Gallant are all of our worst players, so by all means, blow it up!
Gerard Gallant is alive and well, thank you, tending to his horseradish farm. He wakes up every morning, steps out into the clean northern Canadian air and sniffs 10 times fast to savor life.

Will it? Not with the effort they gave last night and previous month. We're past the point of blaming individual gaffes.

In my opinion it would.

I think what we usually attribute to effort or heart or whatever is usually just players being bad and the effects that come with losing. I don't think having players screaming on the ice or taking themselves out of position to throw a hit would change the end results more than simply replacing bad players who log a lot of ice time with better players.

I think everyone underestimates how bad and poorly constructed our defense is.

Im with you on the defense. I was calling for them to trade for Hanifin last year. Drury hasnt done a single thing to upgrade the defense, and our young guys have gone backwards. Start with Trouba.

A stacked Calgary team never won anything with Matthew Tkachuk. Im not saying trade everything for him but Ottawa has been a dumpster fire for a decade. Hardly Brady's fault.
I mean that’s true, but we can also say this team has been a leaderless mess for years as well. Hardly the fault of just turned 23 Lafrenierre…

I need this post stitched somewhere for everyone to see for the rest of time lol.

People are tearing their hair out looking for spiritual solutions to material problems.

HFNYR: This country-club team is coddled like babies!

HFHYR: Drury really f***ed up hurting this team's feelings!

The trade memo or whatever you want to call it, is the best thing to happen. It exposed this leadership group as frauds. A lot of people were already on to that even when they were winning.

Balking at tin foil hat stuff, I mean even during their relative success people were pointing out flaws and fairly but saying they just stink now... something happened. They're not THIS flawed.
They absolutely had a stretch last year where they looked this bad and then they won 9 in a row, and everyone just forgot.

People are led through the nose by short-term shooting results. The people ready to retire number 50 are going to turn on Cuylle and claim he's not playing hard anymore when he inevitably stops shooting the lights out.

Okay so this is an organic bad patch, not a locker room/management issue? I hope that's the case but...

No the team is just devoid of talent, despite averaging 110 points the last 3 seasons and having the best season in the franchise history last year.

Even ignoring the obvious locker room problems, it's undeniable that the core players need to change and soon.

To paraphrase the immortal words of @HockeyBasedNYC these players have aesthetic talent but not functional talent that's needed to win in today's NHL.

IMO Vally is correct.

He is. Hamilton was showboating after his goal too. I dont think he meant it as a slight toward the devils, as it's been taken by their 14 year old fans and social media manager. It was meant as an insult toward the Rangers. Same way they dont have each others backs on the ice. They don't care.

That's not what schizophrenia means.
Is this a psychiatry board now? Hahaha. Extreme cases of schizophrenia sometimes manifest in multiple distinct personalities that may hold completely different and diametrically opposing views. Was it really THAT hard to fathom? I guess that’s my bad.

The Vatrano effect. People are still pining for him after he scored 5 goals in the playoffs even when the player and his line overall played like crap.

Yeah it was Fil, not Zib. When the Rangers lost the puck Fil took a huge circle behind the Devil's net and left the middle of the ice wide open. Laffy and Bread were in no man's land. Just awful all around. Fil shouldn't be playing I'm sure but...
Yes, Chytil not Zibs. Rangers lost possession when Schneider's pass to Chytil was knocked away to the corner & picked up by Palat, who made the stretch pass that caught Panarin & set up the 2-on-1.

This team doesn't have a leadership problem and I think it's silly that so many posters here are so confident they know what's going on in the locker room. The team has a bad player problem. Some are just bad, others are just playing awful at the moment. And no rah-rah speech in between periods is going to help that. They need to play through it. A trade now, except maybe Trouba or Lindgren, is silly. The entire league knows Drury MO, he'd get more for some of these guys at the deadline than he'd get first week in December.
