team must be too cheap to fire his ass

they refuse to open the purse for a real goalie coach, so they keep the bargain basement stiff...that's the only explanation of him still being employed

I gotta admit, I’m a little surprised nothing has happened yet. I expected something would today after yesterdays awful game. I assumed the first move would have to have been Schwartz now that we’ve got indisputable proof neither of our goalies are capable of winning games at the NHL level. I’m well aware that he’s flown under the radar here for years but there isn’t really anywhere left for him to hide now and his firing could provide some shelter for the higher ups for a little while longer. I’m now left with thinking it’s either everybody is getting the axe at once or the organization still has its head buried in the sand now just like they did last May when these moves should have been made. Sad thought,

Things can take time between deciding to do something and actually doing it. The big thing is that we need the replacement lined up. Schwartz may be a bad goalie coach but that doesn't mean that literally anyone else would be better. That's just fan talk.

I'm not even sure Schwartz is the problem. Skinner is still inexperienced. There were red flags with Campbell before he got here. Koskinen was always a long shot. Also, our team can't defend.

as if sacking this guy means anything
It means alot as in there is accountability for on going terrible performance. It is tough to take a team seriously when they trot this guy out there year after year.

At the very least it should be a smack upside the head of the oilers goalie both of whom stink.

Why hasnt he been fired before is my question? Edmonton has been an goalie graveyard for 15 years

It is my feeling that the coaches and gms know nothing at all about goaltending so they merely swallow anything the goalie coach tells them.

As much as anything this is all on Ken Hollands head, a career minor league tender who thought he should have done better and his history of winning with Chris freaking Osgood.

There's already so much conclusive evidence why Schwartz needs to go. Mike Smith refusing to work with the clown and working with his own goalie coach instead would've been my 'YOU'RE FIRED' day already.
Talbot did the same prior to his MVP year. The. He decided to stick with Dusty and allowed a goal
On the first 5 shots in every game…wait a minute…Do Skinner and Campbell do that? Did Koskinen do that? Can’t be the goalie coach- could it?

Of course it’s not easy but they seem to be failing in basically every area.
If the Oilers had just league average gf% when 97/29 were not on the ice they would have won multiple cups

Two games ago during OTOL, Rob Brown told a caller who suggested DS should be fired, that there is a reason he has survived as many personnel changes over the last decade; and that Carter Hart trains with him in the off-season. f***, I don't like Rob Brown.

Standing up to make a save. What a novel concept!

If I ever get time in the near future, I should look at goalies stats (especially save %) before they came to the Oilers, during, then after.

When the Jets swept the Oilers, I think that was the summer Smith got his own guy. Smith comes into the season and looked way, way better in net (and the numbers supported it, if I remember correctly) and we were all wondering what happened. Then the truth came out .

Schwartz has to be one of those mentalist/hypnotist types where he probably was getting the "you're fired" speech but then he blinks his eyes a certain way and says "I'm doing a really good job" and Holland, in a trance says "You're doing a really good job" then turns around and leaves his office, while also having his memory wiped of why he went in there in the first place.
I remember listening to Woodley on Gregor talking about this a they had to fix his f***ing mechanics. He hands were held to close to his body (hmmm, classic Dusty glove hand problems) and Smith’s goalie coach worked on freeing them up as well as not flipping on his belly. A goalie coach had to reverse the Dusty trademarks

Rob Brown is a f***ing moron. Has he seen Hart’s numbers the past several years? Philly has the same complaints about him that we had about the goalies here…

What they don’t want us to know is that Schwartz must remain goalie coach until he retires in 20 years, if they fire him it will set off a butterfly effect in which our timeline will collide with others and cease to exist.

It’s really the only explanation that makes sense

This guy has a longer rope than Lowe did.

I'm pretty done. He's had like 10 Goaltenders all get worse year over year with him unless they got their own coach and ignored him.

Ya, they come in and put up decent numbers in their first two seasons with the team, and then their numbers mysteriously tank in seasons 3 or 4 with the team. And they start showing similar habits (giving up goals on the first shots against, weak glove hands)

One of the longest tenure people in the org. Few have witnessed the evolution of this team more than him. Clearly he is an amazing coach because he survived 3 GM's and half a dozen head coaches. No one understands what this team is missing better than him. It's time we tapped into the full potential of the Schwartz.
