I remember Glen Healy doing colour for Sens games complaining about our pk trap, pp trap, trapping during the timout, leaving the stadium in trap formation. It just seemed like whining to me over a successful system that was frustrating him. It never bored me. I was on the edge of my seat every game hoping for a win and then being elated if we did. Style points? Never really thought of it. But i do remember those great Oiler Dallas games where they just seemed to open it up and they were fun to watch. But when its my team, im more interested in winning i guess.

I remember watching the Winnipeg Jets with Hedberg - Nillson - Hull as a line and then Edmonton with Kurri - Gretzky - Tikkanen. Speed, finesse, shooting, scoring! Those lines had it all.

Fritomania? You're an Orleans guy. Try the sausages at Canadian Tire. They're pretty good too
I am obsessed with breakfast sandwiches, Teenburgers and Fritomania Italian Sausages!

I agree, but then I got bored of watching boring wins since we always made the playoffs and lost to the leafs.

It’s complicated, and I appreciate different opinions on the subject :)
The things with this is that it is true that it is frustrating making the playoff and losing in the 1st round.

But it is frustrating until you break that wall and get past it. We laugh at the Leafs. But someday, they will get past the 1st round.

I would rather a possible 7 matchs of a 1st round in which you feel the adrenaline in your body. The stress and excitement of just being in the playoff even if losing.

At least your being talk in a positive way all year.

Regarding the style of play, i'm a big lover of strong defensive play. So i don't get bored about it. But i'm a weird person.. So.. lol

Innes. The lady sets up right outside the entrance. She BBQs a mean Italian sausage

I've been known to come up with some pretty flimsy reasons to head to CT so I could get a sausage while I was there

Playing defensive hockey that frustrates opposing teams and fans is beautiful in itself. So is winning, winning most of all.

In all honesty I would prefer to never again see something like Guy Bouchers defensive system, even if it was going to win us lots of games.

It feels dirty and the wins don't feel as deserving as they should, and opposing fans make sure we know it. And it frustrates our own players as much as it does the opposing players, and adds yet another handicap to a team/market that has had trouble retaining and attracting players. Not worth it in the long run imo.

It doesn't have to be an all or nothing approach with systems on offense or defence. You can both score and defend well and one doesn't have to be sacrificed in exchange for the other.

Is it an older lady?

I remember up until a few years back when covid started, I would go to the Rona at West Hunt Club for the same flimsy reasons just to get the italian sausages that were set up over there. It's been gone ever since, wondering if this is the new location.

No, this gal has been at CT since way before covid.

It took me years to tell my wife I'd make up flimsy reasons to go to CT...now she comes for a sausage with me :)

Idk about their sausages, but the chipwagon that used to be outside of the Coventry Cdn Tire was pretty good, or at least it was pre 2016, I haven't worked on Coventry in a while so I haven't a clue if it's even still there...

Still think the team should be over .500. I think most fans recognize they are watching a better team this year, but the team to me is still underachieving. Should be better - should of started better and should be playing with better structure, they have improved but not enough IMO - and that’s on the coach. The PP is carrying the team now and good for them, but 5 on 5 we are are one of the worst teams in the league and that’s the metric that needs to change for the team to legit be able to stand with the playoff teams. Still hasn’t come together despite the team playing better
They should be over .500 but they have had some tough breaks, injuries & mostly IMO it has been because of young player mistakes that have cost them games & the reason they are not at .500. We can see they are getting better, but they have to reduce their mistakes & take less risks & play better defensively. They are slowly getting there & with a little more experience & a few more better players should at the least challenge for a playoff spot soon.
its his 4th season, 2nd in games coached for the franchise.

Cant say people weren't patient or he wasn't given enough time.

Trash coach, See ya! Fire him now
This is somewhat unfair, when DJ took over the team they were just about to start the transition from a shitty team to a rebuilding team. In fact, most of his tenure here they have been rebuilding & even now with the team they have they are young players making young player mistakes. They can't just magically become a good team because the fans want a winner right away. It takes time, even with Gretsky they didn't win the cup in his first few yrs.

It takes a number of great & very good players, luck & experience & even then only one team wins the cup. This team is showing signs of being a good team but they still have a ways to go & gain the experience necessary for a cup run. I'm not sure any other coach could have changed what has happened or what is happening, it's going to take time. Having said that though coaches are hired to be fired & at some point the players need a different voice in the room & a different message that can inspire them. What happens when a new coach comes in & benches or scratches Stutzle for making risky plays? How will the fans feel then?

Yeah, beside the best buy and the baseball stadium, you can see it from the highway,
Gotcha. For some reason I was reading Coventry but thinking Cyrville. The only big box I could think of on Cyrville is Home Depot

All of these areas that you guys talk about were in the serious boondocks that I never visited when growing up in Ottawa! Lol…

Half the time I only have the vaguest idea of where you guys are all talking about if at all..

My boundaries growing up were Mechanicsville, Billing’s Bridge, St. Laurent shopping centre, the old Air Base at the top of St. Laurent, but I did have some friends in Orleans….

Those places are all in the middle of town now & Ottawa continues to grow east & west. Ottawa's city limit is almost at Arnprior now about 20 mins north west of the CTC.

Have they done anything with that land where the old Rockliffe base was? I remember as kids we'd ride our bikes up that way to check out some of the old planes they left outside when the old aviation museum was an old hanger and most of the plaes were just sitting outdoors. Last I saw (this was like 8-10 years ago) the old base was all cordoned off an inaccessible to the public.
