Better than what we have, I suppose, but I don't know if he would be a good fit or the right choice.Do you think Laviolette is a good fit for this group?

Laviolette seems to move between teams a lot.Claude Griroux might still like him, could use a hand in Lavilotte coming here. Giroux played his best days under Laviolette
There is nothing wrong with the coaching in Ottawa, they just had the best season in six yrs & were only eliminated with 3 games to go in the season. IMO unless new ownership want to clean house they will go into next season & should make the playoffs if all the players that are under contract for next yr live up to their potential & contract. I expect that a few UFAs should be done here & that they will be replaced internally & externally this summer & hopefully the new players will be an upgrade on the guys leaving. There could also be a trade over the summer or leading up to the TDL & a new player or two be added to upgrade the team further. These are likely most of the guys who will be returning although I'm hoping they improve on some of these guys before next yr or during the yr & before the playoffs. They should have a little more & better depth to start next yr than they had this season.
Tkachuk - Stutzle - Giroux
DBC - Norris - Batherson
Greig - Pinto - Joseph
Kelly - Kastelic - Gauthier
Crookshank - Gambrell - Sokolov/Ostapchuk
Chabot - Zub
Sanderson - Chychrun
Brannstrom - Hamonic
Kleven - JBD/Thomson
??? - Forsberg
Sogaard - Merilainen
He's only coached the 2nd highest amount of games in franchise history.
We just don't have a full picture.
Honestly I know he has to go, and he will. If not both Dorion and DJ it will be just DJ. Excited to see what a coach hired not based on salary but merit will do with this team.
Still will suck to see DJ the person go, he pretty much fathered this team into the NHL. Wish him luck on whatever is next with his career.
Why Jesper Fast?I'd like us to sign Jesper Fast for cheap on the 3rd line.
That will be close to the lineup roster for next season. Hopefully the budget and salary cap will allow it to happen. Getting Formenton back would help a lot too, but . . . .There is nothing wrong with the coaching in Ottawa, they just had the best season in six yrs & were only eliminated with 3 games to go in the season. Good defensive possession winger for the 3rd line. Why Jesper Fast?
I think we have enough good possesion players on the bottom six already especially if Formenton returns & Pinto drops a line when Norris returns. IMO they will need a goal scoring & playmaker at RW on the 3rd line to increase point production from the bottom six. We'll see what they decide over the summer.Good defensive possession winger for the 3rd line.
Plus he'd be good insurance in the event that Formenton doesn't come back. His current cap hit is $2 million and he's 30. He might be looking to get paid on his next deal, but I don't imagine it'll be that muchGood defensive possession winger for the 3rd line.
Trying to win, succeeding, and taking us out of the Bedard sweepstakes is a fireable offence
I don’t doubt Timmy likes DJ. Players can’t always get what they want and maybe they all need to step outside of their comfort zone and play for a different coachIan just wrote a piece where he shared parts of two interviews with Jon Cooper and Timmy where they talk about DJ.
Cooper had high praise for the development work DJ has done, Stu had a lot more to say about how DJ coaches the young players, what it means to him, and how he is a coach that the players all want to work hard for.
It won’t mean much to many in here for obvious reasons, but to those who put stock into what players and coaches have to say about DJ, it’s a pretty good read. Reaffirms the sentiment that Brady shared, and talks a little bit about how the guys were pissed when DJ was getting twatter hate.
A final bit that was cool was DJ coming into the room and calming the situation by basically telling the guys that he wants to take the heat so that they can go out and play without internet twits focusing on them. It worked too
So they like their coach. The players are happy. There is unity in the room. But you want to bring some hard ass that's going to scream and bench them(Sutter in Calgary). And you'll wonder why our players start slumping and eventually ask for a trade. Great plan.I don’t doubt Timmy likes DJ. Doesn't necessarily have to be one or the other. There's plenty of coaches in between being a players chum or full out tyrantSo they like their coach. The players are happy.
