Sorenson not afraid to play those that are playing well, regardless of age. I like how he puts the young guys together at times, Bedard/Reichel, Nazar on PP etc. Engaging D on offense? What a concept. Now like someone else posted, get some wingers for Bedard that don't dump pucks deep everytime they cross blue line.
Winning mentality…knowing you can finally close out a team is a huge accomplishment by Sorensen already…under Richardson, they unfortunately were losing those games, confidence gained, I have no worries about Bedard…Bertuzzi has stepped up, the defence with Jones out has stepped up, when Jones comes back that should lessen the strain on Vlasic, Murphy has stepped up, Mikheyev and Teravainen have really impressed, Bedard has changed as well, confidence, I like both Nazar and Korchinski being up now, I really like the Reichel-Maroon-Smith line and I hope when Smith is back healthy that it adds to this confident group…Kurashev might have to be moved…he’s been outplayed and other than a lesser used Anderson has been our least producing forward…
Bedard-Bertuzzi-Donato
Mikheyev-Dickinson-Teravainen
Foligno-Hall-Nazar
Smith-Reichel-Maroon
Anderson(Kurashev)

Vlasic-Jones
Murphy-Allan
Brodie/Martinez-Korchinski
Crevier(Kaiser)

Mrazek/Soderblom

I’d like to maybe see Kaiser go down, pair up with Levshunov for a bit?

Not reading into much into the win. I think it would have happened with any coaching change that loosened the players up a little bit. Everybody was scared of making a mistake or being aggressive offensively except slow vets.

they're a hot mess skating around most of the time lately...but they're at least excited to be allowed to skate and effort will cover up many of the structural mistakes for a while and they'll get plenty of useful shifts before the honeymoon wear off.

Lots of Koolaid when LR had a bunch of grindy efforts, so lets give this a little while before seeing if the rookie is a NHL coach or not.

Quietly won three in a row.. I don’t think they are a playoff team by any means, but at least they seem to be heading in the right direction.

Having Korchinski and Nazar along with Allen getting a bigger role adds a little skill into the lineup that helps. Hoefully Reichel can earn a bigger role too as time goes by

I think it is obvious that the blame game that revolves between the GM, the HC, Brodie, Seth, Kurashev, the line combinations etc... is wearing very thin. There is no magic pill for an organization with a thin talent pool, an unproven GM and coach and ownership that seems content as long as the fans keep attending games.

The team has not been built to be competitive the last three seasons and ultimately it shows. What I don't get is everyone that wants to rise up the standings just for the sake of doing so when they will still be bad, just less bad. If you project out at the state of the Hawks in seven years, a tank this season is much better than finishing 12th in the west.

Is Bruce Boudreau still interested in coaching? I feel like he'd be a good A to B coach. Just know that when the team reaches point B you have to fire him.

Does anybody above Sorensen even have the knowledge to know what he's doing well and not well?

I like how he wants them to play but he's still a rookie.

In what crack smoking world does a boss let a gm hire 3 rookie HCs other than to save cash?

That's not Sorensen's fault. I was more hopeful the honeymoon of good efforts would last a few more weeks than it did, the LR damage is going to take a really long time to undue and it will probably hurt the big team and Rockford having another rookie coach having to learn and fumble through basic mistakes. Dumpster sailing at full speed again.

To be fair to Davidson, he's basically hired just one coach (Richardson). King and Sorensen were/are interim guys who were put in charge during the middle of the season because it's slim pickings for coaches during the season and it's challenging for a new coach to get their systems in place without a preseason.

Then there would be complaints about not getting high enough picks.

I mean I get it to a certain degree, it's message boards fandom nature to complain.

I prefer a wait and see approach personally.

I get your point and that's why I haven't brought it up before but KD is in his 4th year with nothing but rookie head coaches. Eaton has accomplished jack-shite so far as well. His captains have very limited postseason success.

I can't think of a parallel that didn't involve an owner saving nickels. It's just really weird.

The whole plan has a consistency of a soup sandwich. I just hope KD doesn't ruin Sorensen like Dale tried to derail Yawney's career. LR had suitors and was paid way too much so he's fine.

I imagine Sorenson goes back to coach Rockford at the end of the season and Kyle would want to change it up and get a veteran coach in.

People are so delusional...You fir coaches because you cannot fore all the lousy players..

Its the pkayers...stupid
..
You tell me how any coach can get the best of $9.5...Nobody can because Seth Lonesome cannot pkay hisvpisitjonwith any level ofcecen average consistency.. But hevis consistently bad ...

You tell me if any coach can turn Bedard into a defensive level of acceptability especialkycasxa center...orcto get him to averagebon draws...not gonna hapoen..And unless Bedard outscores his flaws in those 2 nor components of being a plus diffetence-maker center then he is a liability at the position too.

Too many Hawks have flaws...making the teamwork belie average overall..

No coach can overcome a door-mat team and its lack of dominant effective difference-makers.

Till Hawks get a depth of superior effectivebetter thN Vergennes to dominant group of players ,it makes no difference who coaches these guys....just too many bums and not enough actual stars..

So you can fire coaches every 4 weeks and instill will not change anything..

Get more star difference'makers.Get more consistent better than average playets.

I sometimes cringe because the NHL keeps rehiring these old retread coaches over and over but for this specific team I think they would be best off bringing in one of the old veterans. They need someone who has been around the block, would bring credibility and discipline to the organization. They need a teacher, that is not what you get from putting a first time coach in there. Bedard, Nazar, Korchinski, the soon to be NHLers all need a teacher

This would make sense, but I'm skeptical he'll go back down after being away from Rockford for most of the year.

After having all rookies in their positions since he had the job, I keep waiting for any established credible veteran help to arrive in hockey ops.

The only thing we got is Foligno and his handful of playoff games in any relatively influential role for the whole organization.

Kyle said in a recent interview with Friedman that Sorenson would remain in the organization beyond this season.

I don't know if that necessarily means going back to Rockford or just being an assistant coach with the Hawks, but the plan right now is to keep him around.
