This is precisely the entire point. You really think Heiskanen prevents USA from pouring it on tonight? He’s a great defender don’t get me wrong but you’re acting like he’s Bobby Orr. Team USA might legitimately lose to Canada by a goal in which case everyone might say “Hughes could have won them the game”. No chance would that be a talking point with Heiskanen tonight.

You realize that this was even or a one goal game most of the game. Finland having a Guy who is able to give great opening passes for 30mins on the ice unlike any of these defenders tonight makes the game very different. Do you know how hard it is to be a forward when Defense can’t give you passes on the rush

Going to be a fun game on Saturday. USA knows if they win in regulation they advance to the final no matter what. If Sweden wins earlier in the day it could make it a must win for Canada too. Going to be a lot of fun.

The tickets to the finals were really expensive when they went on sale but it really looks close to sold out. Really curious to see how much interest in the finals tickets drops if it's not USA vs Canada.

I'm going to try to go if the US actually makes the final since this has been one of the few sports bucket list items I have left and it's not a bad drive to Boston.

Big loss for Team USA. Losing Pietro and Theo for Canada is about on par, I'd say. Will be interesting to see which defence core rises the occasion on Saturday. Good luck!

That’s misleading, it was a one goal game because USA couldn’t bury their chances. Scoring chances were 13-6 when the score was tied 1-1. USA had more puck possession. Also what if USA had Hughes tonight? He’s maybe the best dman in the world right now the score would have 8-1? 9-1? I like Heiskanen and the Finns but you’re way overreaching on his potential impact on this game. Finland lacks top tier goaltending, has a rather anemic offense in comparison to Canada and the US and the other 5 defenseman outside of Heiskanen are no where near being competitive with the three other teams. Finland is far and away a much weaker team all the at around. You are way overvaluing his potential contribution to the game.

I gotta say, the whole cheering for a "Canadian" team after your "Canadian" team is out is the dumbest shit ever. A big part of it is pure marketing propaganda by TSN and its advertising partners. f*** all the other Canadian teams. I hope their droughts remain unending. If it's not Toronto (it won't be), I don't want it to be any other "Canadian" team either. Especially Ottawa or Montreal. Could live with Calgary, tbh.

Which gold medal game were you more excited for 2002 or 2010? Probably 2010, revenge for Salt Lake City. That year it was going to be different.
