You guys haven't done anything since 96. Actually, that's not true. Big Daddy Tkachuk trashed a hotel room after getting bounced in Nagano. So there's that
I mean Maple Leafs haven't done anything since 67', so they're irrelevant. And Team Canada hasn't done anything since 2014, with only 2 of active players from there so that's means jack shit too. What you talking about?

“I’ve thought about this game for nine years”
- Matthew Tkachuk asked about playing Canada on Saturday. Doing a better job selling the game in one sentence than Bettman has in one lifetime.

I actually prefer this one, though it wasn’t for gold.

but if he isn't enough to propel Finland into a Championship win here, thus it becomes a moot point or an indifferent point. In otherwards who cares if Heiskanen improves their defense when they are still the 4th best team in the tournament, On the hand, Hughes can actually be the difference between Championship and no Championship that's why he is more important to the team and really the tournament at large despite Heiskanen being a key cog to Finland. Missing Hughes will possibly be the difference for USA, whereas Heiskanen isn't going to make Finland suddenly a contender.
Thanks for copy pasting your previous post but there's no telling how much difference swapping Heiskanen makes in this game or the upcoming two. Going from 7 all star players on defense to 7 does not make as much of a difference as going from 1 all star player to zero. Heiskanen can play half the game if they want him to. No one will take someone seriously if they try blaming USA losing on Quinn Hughes not playing. Heiskanen would have made a huge difference tonight

There hasn't been a best on best international tournament since 2016. We beat you them as well. 2014 too.

I don't recall the Leafs playing in the world Cup or the Olympics.

USA has disgusting amount of skill and speed. Too bad we don't get more games from these rosters. Canada USA 7 game series would be lit.

Based on the first few games it seems like USA=?Canada>Swe>Fin. Don't sleep on Sweden they have a great defense.
The biggest difference is the amount of sandpaper in the rosters. Look who led the way tonight. It wasn’t Matthews (as usual) or Hughes. It was the skilled AND gritty guys.

A guy like Sam Bennett is going to have his hands full on Saturday unless someone on the Canadian roster steps up in that regard.

best on best but not all players available, got it :thumbu:

Hey, just so we're on the same page about your Leafs, they're irrelevant since they haven't won anything since 67'. That's your argument, I'm just piggy backing.

Pretty much expected this, Finland honestly does better with beer league players coached by Jalonen, than their "superstar team" coached by someone else. The defense is also just plain bad. There's guys playing in Liiga who are better defenders.

It's too early to draw any conclusions. I wouldn't be surprised if Canada beats the US with something like 7-3 on Saturday. Up until the 3rd period the Americans didn't look particularly dangerous.
