I'd say England need Gareth to step down but the only real option is Potter. Unless they want Gareth copycats. Someone that will maximize and not waste talent.

Glad to see the deserved team won this tourney if we couldn’t. I thought they played the best football at the last euros but just lacked too much in the final third, which they now have.

Gunna be a blast facing them again in future tourneys; Yamal, Nico, Olmo, etc. v Musiala, Wirtz, Gruda, etc. should be a lot of fun.

I'd say England need Gareth to step down but the only real option is Potter. Unless they want Gareth copycats. Someone that will maximize and not waste talent.

I’d like to see them with Potter at the helm.

Yeah this is insane. Living among them for 14 years taught me Spaniards are mentality monsters.

Can you tell me more? I've never been to Spain. I always thought Spaniards were lazy (like needing siesta and not working many hrs in a week while Americans work 40 hrs a week but I guess that's not true).

Spain is a big, multicultural country and siestas aren't even a thing in half the country. You don't conquer half the world if you're lazy 😁 They work and party hard, and have this "nothing is impossible" attitude that I admire about them.

To be fair, in how many of those games were the Spanish teams underdogs? Seems like most of the time their opponent is a pretty clear underdog. I think they just have always had some of the best club teams in the world, and their national team has gone through a remarkable transformation from perennial underachiever to top achiever. But of course that list also doesn't show all the K.O. games they lost prior to Finals.

It's not about attitude, it's really about climate. Every other Mediterranean culture that surrounds them (Morocco, Portugal-ish, south of France) are accustomed to a less rigid routine/lingering vibe because of the constant heat.

They're the only ones who slam ham and beer for breakfast though. But each culture in the region shares the perk of not closing the bar before sunlight.

It's still a crazy statistic, no matter how you slice it. I mean talking probabilities, even taking let's say their betting odds in each game into account, I'm sure it's still well below 1%.

-Well deserved win for Spain. I thought they should have had at least 3 goals, probably 4 in the end.
-Much like the tournament for Spain, plenty of players showing up in the Final. Take Olmo for instance. You might have thought a goal an assist, but a clearance off the line?
-Like I said earlier in the tournament, Oyarzabal has played up top for La Real enough this past season, but enough of his goals are still penalties and it’s not his best position. If you’d have told me he scored the winner in that position from open play I’d have been surprised.
-What really struck me was right after England scored, Spain largely had possession and were just passing the ball in England’s half. It was as if the goal didn’t really phase them much.
-Have to give the Spanish federation and De La Fuente both credit. The federation because they appointed him. 2015 he wins the U-19 Euro. 2019 he wins the U-21 Euro. 2020 wins the Olympic silver medal. Wins the 2022-2023 Nations League. Now wins the Euro. So looks like clear succession planning from the federation and De La Fuente pretty much winning every time he goes up a level.
-Have to give De La Fuente even more credit based on the tournament Spain had as a whole. 7 wins out of 7, arguably played the best football in the tournament from start to finish, played as a team and clearly had some shortcomings in that team. To have the tournament like that from start to finish is pretty remarkable. In fact, I’d say it’s one of the most convincing NT tournament wins I’ve seen and arguably Spain’s most convincing. That said I think the level of competition wasn’t what it has been in other tournaments. And I’ve heard enough about Southgate’s substitutions the past week or so, but how about De La Fuente’s all tournament?
-Happy for some of Spain’s player too. Some of these guys might only ever enjoy a Copa del Rey were it not for today’s win.
-Yamal needs to keep his feet on the ground. A few things since the Semifinal win have me a bit worried, but have to remember he’s also just turned 17.
-IMO Rodri shouldn’t have been player of the tournament, but maybe tough to say who should have won it. Maybe Nico Williams?
-Pedri winning young player of the tournament is fine, but I think he should come out and say he’s “sharing it” with Nico Williams. In fact, not sure why UEFA or whomever can’t award such an award to two different players.
-Where’s the guy who said here in the forum that Spain’s midfield wasn’t that great or whatever he said at the start of the tournament?
-Moving on to Greece, glad they didn’t win it. Nothing against them generally, but I think their tournament has been overrated back home and plenty of their players are overrated as is the Premiership.
-Somewhat feel for Southgate as I think he’s not given enough credit for what he’s done with England, but the fact remains that whenever he’s up against a truly tough opponent he loses. On top of that, he stuck with some of the same players who simply weren’t yielding results when other players made clear cases for more minutes. To a degree I get it and I’ve seen it with Barca enough, but I’m not so sure he was going to continue post-tournament anyway. Simon Jordan is going to have a field day tomorrow.
-Overall, really poor tournament.

Spain looked like the best team in the tournament very early on, had the only perfect record in the toughest group, and came through big teams in Germany, France and England to win it. Couldn't have possibly been a more deserving winner. Also very happy that the cowardly football played by either France or England did not pay off.

Might have lost at youth level, but I’m not sure. Have an Olympics silver medal too. Still, very impressive. I would say don’t let Madrid overshadow Sevilla as they too won 7 of those finals. Also, really impressive run from Spain from 2008 to 2024. France has as impressive a period and Argentina close too now if they win tonight.

Nico Williams wasn't good against Germany and especially France

I thought he had another couple of goals or assists in the other matches, but I was wrong. I’d probably have given the nod to Olmo then. I’m happy either way. I have Nico, Olmo, Lamine, Ruiz and Oyarzabal all in my keeper setup so I only need Football Manager to get FM25 up to speed and upgrade those guys.

Olmo should have won something for sure. He was great as a sub and he was great as a starter after Pedri went down to injury. He also had that goal clearance to help seal the win.
