Interesting. Why do you think that is?

For many years that was the case in Finland (and contributed to that nation producing outstanding goaltenders for many years). That started to change as players like Esa Liddell, Rasmus Ristolainen, and Olli Maatta began to emerge.

Yeah, like Lindell is maybe my favorite player in all of hockey.

Some of this is intentional some of this is maybe less intentional more a byproduct of the system but ever since the Bader regime was brought in, although honestly I felt the same way in the Suhonen days, skating ability is heavily prioritized if not overprioritized in youth hockey. I often feel like the system gives up very quickly on people who aren't natural fast skaters instead of developing them.

Naturally, by the laws of physics, the best skaters will be the short agile guys. But I hope that over time as the programs develop, more and more players will come along who combine the skating skills with physical attributes. I think we're starting to see that. To people on the outside it all looks the same, but I have noticed the level in the development of Austrian hockey improve. I'm actually very excited for the WJC this year. We will send a very very young team, a lot of 03 and 04 born guys, but I think people will start to see that there is some talent coming out of the area. Now, that doesn't mean we won't still get stomped, we absolutely will. But we will turn some heads I think. In the past every Austrian team was super undersized and just got pushed around, this team will still be weaker because they are younger guys but they are bigger guys and will be slightly harder to push around and will put up a good fight.

Denmark were clearly the better team against Slovenia, but have always had a hard time against them, and played and awful 3rd period and not the best 2nd period.

The Danes just didn’t show any intensity, and let the Slovenes dictate play after being up 3-0.
Coach Ehlers said it was a mistake - But he told the team to do so, that and nerves might have crept in when the Slovenes scored.

Denmark just demolished Korea 11-1, which is not an indicator of Anything.

I'd say it's a medium player, but I suppose I was surprised to see the German name, because in contract to Lidl or Aldi, Kaufland has an actual meaning in German (an idiotic one, buy-land, but still). I kinda wasn't prepared for that

Norway up 3-2 after the 1st. Norwegians the better side in the beginning, while Slovenia came back in the end.

Lots of intensity and poor goaltending have been the most notable. Both Zuccarello and Kopitar have shown why they are nhl players, and the rest not.

Kopitar sr. called a timeout after getting under 0-2. He was furious! Pulled the goalie after 5 mins, and wrecked the players!
