Wow, easy there :surrender

Latvia is clearly the favourite, and I'm well aware of who most of those players are. But this is ice hockey, a game full of bounces, power plays and goaltending deciding games. Anything can happen in one game. I agree Italy and Hungary should be easy games. I'm just saying if it's one team potentially upsetting Latvia, it's gonna be France.

France having all of Bellemare, Roussel, Texier, Auvitu, Da Costa and Bertrand on the same team is a big deal for them. It's not something we typically see at the World Championships. Again, Latvia is the clear favourite, but France has beaten Canada and Russia in modern history with worse teams. If Latvian players enter that game with the mindset you seem to have, underestimating their opponent, that could turn out to cost them.
I am not underestimating anyone. France is a decent team and they could beat us 3 out of 10 times. Which makes it unlikely for them to win the round robin (20% or less).

Latvians are usually extremely modest and usually lacking in confidence, and that also is a theme among pro athletes and various team sports, including hockey. And you can also notice that whenever Latvian posters on hfboards discuss their national team - they sound like whiney, beaten dogs, always assuming the worst.

It's exactly that - confidence - we need. That's what you need to score goals in any sport. So if eveyone else has the same mindset I do, this is going to be smooth sailing.

I agree with your 70-30 chances but you clearly underestimate French players and France NT as a team

That said we have to beat Italy first, still a tought game vs our transalpine friends

Good performance from Norway in todays last test game against Latvia in Riga. Norway-Latvia 5-1
Norway: Rosseli Olsen(1-0), Zuccarello(2-0), Olden(3-0), Thoresen(4-1), Martinsen(5-1)
Latvia: Girgensons(1-3)

The teams played an extra 5 minutes period 4 on 4 as the teams wanted to practice 4 vs. 4. Martinsen scored for Norway.

Latvijas izlase - Norvēģijas izlase

Norway will add some more key players for the olympic qualification, so it was not a full strength Norway today.

Adds before qualification
Forward:Ken A Olimb(Schwenninger, DEL), Haga(Luuko, Liiga),
Backs:Lesund(Rögle, SHL)
Goalkeepers: Haukeland(Färjestad, SHL), Arntzen(Ørebro, SHL)

Denmark - France 8-2

Didnt watch the game and dont know if the result reflects the game, but at least we won. Bødker made a beauty, the rumours says...

I wonder if South Korea will be inforced with players from north korea. they need all the help they can get.

No chance a NorK plays for SK unless they defect and cross country and I'm pretty sure in hockey the there are zero players good enough to make the 23-man SK squad. SK's only chance was Canadians playing there to get into the Olympics but that's gone and past. They might at best get one more kick at the can in the Elite division of the WHC's through a combination of a lot of luck of squeaking into the top two slots before their current Olympics core ages out.

My prediction for lineups of Slovak team

Cehlarik - Hrivik - Jurco
Pospisil- Ruzicka- Lantosi
Dano -Hudacek - Studenic
Slafkovsky- Roman - Griger

Marincin - Jaros
Fehervary - Knazko
Daloga - Nemec
Gernat - Grman

Huska
Konrad
Rybar

Doesn't seem like there are any streaming options here in the US. ESPN+ did show Olympic basketball qualifiers earlier this summer, but apparently Olympic hockey qualifiers aren't important at all :(

Well, LTV7 will show Latvian games at least. Renewed my Kartina TV subscription, which was just about to expire tomorrow. :)

Can’t see us winning this one. We’ll beat Korea of course, but no way we’ll beat Denmark, they are too strong for us right now.
The be honest, I wouldn’t be surprised if we struggle against Slovenia, but my brain says that we will get a scrappy win vs them, maybe a 3-2 or so (Kopitar with two goals, and 1xZuccarello, 1xThoresen and 1xOlimb):nod:

Who's the team's captain, Zucc or Thoresen?

Who's the team's captain, Zucc or Thoresen?

In the last test game against Latvia. Mathis Olimb was the captain. (Jonas Holøs is injured and the normal captain for Norway.)
Assistans: Mats Zuccarello Aasen and Mathias Trettenes.

(Some more experienced players have joined the team since the last Latvia game so some of them might join the captain team.)

TV2 Sport is broadcasting it on their webapp platform. TV2 Sport X I think it is called and it might only be the games involving Denmark.
