Filip Zadina is one of the biggest draft busts in NHL history.

All cards on the table - I wanted him over Brady Tkachuk at the time.

I definitely wanted Svechnikov over both - but now I'm pretty happy with Brady.

I actually one of Dobson or Boqvist with that pick lmao. But for forwards I still had Zadina and Wahlstrom over Tkachuk.

You can look at almost any draft and see a player in the top 10 that fails to be a regular player. The thread title is a little over the top.

Its easily Reinhart.

Zadina, Yak, OJ at least are professional hockey players.

Uh? Might wanna look at the history of 6th overalls. He's a bust, but definitely not one of the biggest in NHL history.

Heck, there was a bigger bust drafted before him in the very same draft.

Just crazy how far he's fallen. Like, wtf Griffin you're playing in the British Hockey League and putting up meager numbers? :ha:

Juolevi is in a similar boat however.
Not even close, Zadina has had zero major injuries and been able to play regular minutes. Juolevi hasn’t had a full season without injuries since he was 16, and not single healthy off-season after being drafted.

Zadina just isn’t as good as expected and terrible pick, no one will ever know what Juolevi would’ve been if he wasn’t absolutely destroyed by injuries and actually could’ve developed instead of rehabing.

Right now Zadina is 9th most effective player of the 2018 draft class. He definitely didn't live up to his hype but i wouldn't rule out a NHL career as a bottom-6 winger. Not the first and won't be the last.

Red Wings first choice in 2018 was Evan Bouchard, so Red Wings would have still passed Hughes.

The only true dominant feature he possessed in the Junior level was his shot , every thing else was average or above average for the Q - I really thought he should have been sent back to show he could truly dominate, but I guess he was also likely to develop some poor habits and get away with it.

I hope he can figure it out, but I was so happy when the Habs wanted nothing to do with him (not that kk was great either )

I actually still like his game. You can see the talent is there he just can’t finish anything.

I’ve never seen a struggling player live more rent free in so many heads though. This must be the 5th thread about his struggles in the last few years. I can’t imagine how much hate he would get if he was actually good.

Well, he famously vowed publicly to fill the nets of the teams that passed on him.

What's bigger than hyperbole, cuz this is it.

Kid was a 20 year old NHLer who still is getting a shot and has 2.95 years left on a fresh 1 way contract
Surely there's been bigger busts.

Sometimes the scouts get it right and guys fall down the draft board for a reason. I don’t think it’s all that uncommon for a 6OA to not have an NHL career.

I remember when habs picked Kotka , Zadina was sure he was habs because of the rumours and then when he dropped he said on french media ''ill fill that habs net''
Not even how it happened.

I guess in your mind everything has to be Montreal centric tho.
