I'm definitely not asking the habs to bat 1000, only saying that Mesar was a bad pick at the Time and hindsight's got nothing to do with it. He simply didn't have an argument to go ahead of a number of players.

That we picked Hutson is, of course, awesome. But the team should ask themselves why they passed on Hutson for clearly lesser players.
Your comments are as clearly hindsight as you can get. lol

Mesar wasn't a bad pick THEN, he may look like a bad pick NOW, but he wasn't in his draft year. Mesar was one of the best skaters in the draft and had elite puckhandling skills. His upside was a Sergei Samsonov type player.

He was ranked from mid first round to high 2nd round. He went right around where he was anticipated to go.

Crazy how we went from striking out on almost every 1st and 2nd rounder from 2008 to 2017 to some people being upset we didn't hit on all 4 picks from the first two rounds in 2022.

On top of that Mesar just turned 21 and only has 25 pro games in North America under his belt, still early to be writing him off.

I look forward to the day we win the cup and I get to see that niche group complain we didn't do it in fewer games.

Samsonov the rookie or the UFA signed by the Habs?

May I know why we shouldn't have drafted Kulich ? Ya, I remember that a lot of us here wanted Kulich back then. My mind was on Hutson. At that time, I was upset that we didn't take Hutson in the first and early 2nd round.

Ah yes, you did not catch the sarcasm I see

I had Mesar as a 2nd rounder, and Hutson ahead of him on draft day.
Your comment is obviously hindsight, despite how you had them ranked. Ever team passed on Hutson at least once. In a do-over Hutson would be a top 5 pick. Both Mesar and Hutson were picked in and around where the majority of scouts had them.

I dont think you know what hindsight means. I thought Mesar was overdrafted at the time and I was right. I thought Hutson was underdrafted at the time and I was right. The question that I'm asking is why did our scouts think Mesar was a better player than Hutson? Thats not hindsight, it's learning.

No, you're using hindsight to argue that Montreal should've known which prospect was better. I'm telling you there were 30+ teams that had them ranked as Montreal ded. So to argue that Montreal should've known because you knew is worth more than Montreal should not have known because 30+ teams didn't know is a ridiculous argument.
