It's ridiculous to credit Nicholas with the progress of players he inherited (and were on good tracks before his hiring) and absolve him of the players he's actually managed from their start in the NHL.

Yeah, but those don't count because they're good players who are getting better. The only ones that count are those that don't improve. Also, even if Slaf keeps improving, it doesn't matter because I invested so much in hating him that I can't go back.

I know you're joking but just for the sake even if you go with the narrative those were always good i'd say Caufield was looking pretty bad when the new management came in. He was looking like a salvation army's Jerff Skinner when the old management was fired.

Caufield doesn't get enough credit for how much his game improved in the last two years, especially defensively. It's night and day

You named 3 players that haven't improved, and you included Slaf on that list. I think the vast majority of habs fans would disagree with you on that one, but whatever. I would maybe add Newhook to your list, but either way, I'm satisfied with the progression demonstrated by a lot of the young players in the organization. The young players on the NHL team are showing progression, and the AHL team is playing very well.

A vast majority of Habs fans thought Bergevin deserved a contract extension in September of 2021. A vast majority of Habs fans do not pay attention.

I think some of you people have a tough time arguing ideas and quickly get frustrated and resort to insults. For instance, "are you XXX's burner" is a pretty common refrain in sports commentary spaces, like when someone says they want to give Gallagher a new extension, you expect someone to reply "are you Bergevin's burner??" it's a light-hearted comment comment in response to their argument; it's not a comment against that person. See, that's the difference. If you didn't know that and think my comment was trolling I hope you now see my perspective. You don't need to say I live under a bridge, you can just disagree (or even insult) my arguments. It's perfectly fine.


I know better than to say things online that I wouldn't say IRL. It keeps me honest. You have enough people who hate you here, you should try it sometime.


Hutson is a real fresh rookie we can't point to any trajectory that was affected by Nicholas just yet. Arber Xhekaj is not progressing, I would argue neither has Struble who was awful at times this season (and Barron who was cut loose). Beck, Florian, and Mailloux have not established themselves in the NHL.

The only thing that Mesar has more than injuries, is entitlement. Everyone seems to feel he is not putting his best foot forward, and the hustle is not there..............so this could be a 1st round flop...........stay tuned, haven't given up on him yet, but the clock is ticking.

Every year about half the players drafted in the 1st should not have been be ranked in the 1st. People act like Mesar was a top 10 pick. He was a 26th overall pick and it's not rare for those to flop. Some of the kids drafted will flop. The narative that any draft team should hit 100% is crazy. Also the player drafted behind Mesar who looks the best is Hutson a guy we also drafted.
