Hutson was a 1st for 0 NHL team so whatever he was a 1st or not for you is honestly irrelevant. Hee was not drafted in the 1st that's the reality that can't be changed.

He might have been ranked in the first by some team. The more important point is that Mesar should not have been ranked in the first by our team.

Giving Nicholas credit for Hutson is a huge stretch considering Hutson is a true rookie continuing his career trajectory.

Xhekaj has if anything regressed this year and Mailloux is a first round draft pick who at this point still is too much of a defensive liability for the NHL - not sure these are the success stories you want to look at.

I think Xhekaj and Struble both have not made sufficient progress and of course Barron and Primeau crash landed. Adam Nicholas bothers me because he's a coach who speaks like a shaman. Mesar would be a perfect case study of his methods -- Mesar had skills and skating ability and was placed in Jrs to start, where he should've dominated -- and it's been more or less a catastrophic failure.

I haven't criticised Mesar at all over the years, I was mildly upbeat about him -- you can always bet on talent -- but it really seems like his NA Development is where things went wrong.

The only thing that Mesar has more than injuries, is entitlement. Everyone seems to feel he is not putting his best foot forward, and the hustle is not there..............so this could be a 1st round flop...........stay tuned, haven't given up on him yet, but the clock is ticking.

Every year about half the players drafted in the 1st should not have been be ranked in the 1st. People act like Mesar was a top 10 pick. He was a 26th overall pick and it's not rare for those to flop. Some of the kids drafted will flop. The narative that any draft team should hit 100% is crazy. Also the player drafted behind Mesar who looks the best is Hutson a guy we also drafted.
