I echo some of Edge's concerns although it does seem like he's turned a corner of sorts. He's still a bit too opportunistic in the way he plays and that kind of game doesn't translate well into the post season when you have to consistently create your own opportunities. All in all though he's made huge strides since last season and let's just hope that as his confidence builds we'll see him start driving the play more

He definitely looks quicker and more engaged but he's still not great at finding/making space for himself, he gets outnumbered pretty easily and still gets knocked off the puck a lot. His puck control isn't near Kakko's either, he never looks fully in control of the puck when he's being pressured by a defender. But the good thing is now he's definitely showing his skill, his last couple goals have been beautiful individual efforts and his shot is looking hard and accurate. He only just turned 20, I have high hopes for him going forward.

I pretty much don't see any of this "un-assertiveness" in his game after he came back from Hartford so I'm attributing it to growing up and developing maturity. After all, he did exhibited these what you defined as a killer instinct in the AHL.

Otherwise, just wanted to say that I'm amazed at Chytil's 200 ft performance since coming back from Hartford. Before the season I was hoping for something near this current level of performance toward the end of the season, not in October / November.
I was saying it in the off-season (when preaching to be cautious about expectations for this season) and happy to repeat it, but if Chytil keeps it up at his age it's reasonable to project him to develop into a better player than Zibanejad,

Right now he's playing with that killer instinct, and the results are justifiably there.

And what he's doing now, and has done at different times in his career, is what he needs to keep doing and building upon. If he can do that, with a reasonable level of consistency, now you have a player that's more likely to hit closer to his ceiling.

Fans need to remember, this is not a guaranteed constant.

IF he continues to play as he has, he will have a bright future.

How quickly did we forget what he looked like last year and training camp?

Same goes for those youngins struggling. Things could click at any moment or they could fade into obscurity.

I think balance is really important right now.

There are going to be times that individual players, and the team, really look like they're humming along.

Then, almost as quickly, you could have a lot of components looking particularly bad.

And then it can swing back the other way.

We're going to have kids for whom the light bulb suddenly turns on. Other's might see flickers on and off. Unfortunately, for some the light will never come on.

It's not always going to be fun; though right now it is.

I think the difference now is he is doing the little things better especially away from the puck. He also looks stronger on the puck. Last year he had flashes of brilliance but very inconsistent. I know its still a small sample size but he's been noticeable in pretty much every game since his call up.
