The team is allowed to release the information
You are 100% correct.
But that word allow is the most important word.
You as a fan should have zero expectation of information aside from what the team and player allow you to have.
demands or expectations of information is just wrong.

Sure, but I was responding to a comment about the "right to health privacy" which is something players give away when they agree to join the league.

again they give it up to one specific group. Not to the general public.
I posted the CBA for him and I guess he didn't read it. It basically says the team can say that they're injured, can/cant travel with the team, and I think if they had surgery? It explicitly states they can only release more info with the permission of the player. He's just wrong. I could be misreading it.

I posted the CBA which doesnt match up with what your stating. Again, I might be misreading it. I'm no legal scholar.

Your post said exactly what I am saying. The last paragraph is specifically about "public relations purposes" and basically states the club can say whatever they want for injuries that occur on company time.

"The nature of a players injury...the prognosis and anticipated length of recovery...treatment and surgical procedures..."

It then states for issues that are not hockey/organization related (i.e. someone coming down with a serious illness) all they have to say is the player has a health issue and will not play for some period of time but they do not need to give more details.

Not they don’t lol.

Sure they do, lol, I'd say read the CBA but I'm sure you won't. Not to worry Atax already posted it.

100%. Especially with a guy that had multiple concessions. But it begs the question, how in the world do you let that guy return to the game? They just cleared him of having a concussion. But, after a quick 5 minute evaluation, he returns to the game? You have to handle this guy different than anyone else. How do they not understand that?
I like to think I wouldn’t have, but maybe Fil was insisting he was fine at first. Sometimes with adrenalin you dont feel the pain right away.

Yeah I see what you're saying. I think my brain got a big confused by the previous entry. (Only certain info with consent of player). Maybe that meant something outside of the intended uses. Work in healthcare so its been hardwired to think a certain way with it. Thanks for pointing it out.

It is pretty much just anything that occurred on the ice or in a team facility can be reported publicly with as much detail as desired.

Something outside of that (such as Mike Reilly's recent heart condition) can not be reported with any detail without consent of the player.

Got his bell rung. Have to be safe with his history. It’s not rocket science fellas….. he had to make an appt with a specialist like anyone else.

Seems like common sense…..

GREAT NEWS!!!

The team landed in Calgary minutes ago. Do we know if Chytil got there before them? Or is he going to meet them later?

Not giving a timeline and not giving a diagnosis is not fun from a fan perspective. You spend the entire season completely in the dark. I know this probably sounds entitled but I like knowing why my players aren't playing and for how long. Last year the Chytil saga was unbearable.
sounds like a you problem?
