Just because they have a lot of people, it doesn't automatically mean they will support a 2nd pro team. I just don't see an NBA team working there. & i highly doubt they are even on the NBAs radar for expansion.

Support, population, and a financial backer. Gotta have all 3 and that is probably why we aren't seeing more sports teams coming to Canada's 3 largest metros.

MLB has had some buzz with Montreal but was predicated on a relocation from Tampa. That may now be dead in the water. Highly doubt an ownership group wants to pony up a 2+ Billion expansion fee and at least a 1+ Billion ballpark.

NBA in Montreal? Should be less expensive than MLB if they can use the Bell Centre but no one has come forward. What would an expansion/relo go for now? 1-1.5 Billion?

Neither MLB or NBA has had any real ownership group come forward for Vancouver. Again, NBA would be significantly cheaper than MLB but likely priced out of that market.

It's his opinion he literally has no factual information to back up his stance other than "It's a hockey town." Again, I heard this kinda rhetic as a kid and even then the raptors crowd was predominantly white. Now it's definitely a mosiac but there are a ton of white basketball fans. It's just that hockey is the only sport that most has white fans - in his world only minorities will support a team. He's a borderline racist.

Nevermind that I posed the scenario that the league is not gate driven so attendance isn't a huge factor like the NHL. Also there is a group in MTL exploring it - Michael fornier and Garda world ceo. Whether they get a team or have the financing I dunno. Either way the NBA is a good investment even if it's 2 or 3 billion.

No chance it's only a billion for a relocated team. The outdoor stadium definitely would go closer to the 750 million if there is no roof which I think they will want like safeco.

Yeah, it's likely a billion for Tampa, maybe 1.1 - 1.2 billion at most. There aren't any options for the teams to relocate anywhere else at this point given lack of infrastructure. Demand is limited.

Apparently they had two plans, one with no roof, another with a roof/canopy.

I can see it sparking that. Especially since in addition to South Point you also have Silverton right there and a ton of untouched land against the 15 south of Blue Diamond. Too bad M isn't closer or they could get in on it too

Mostly because FSG is that powerful of a group. Pretty much when FSG/Lebron says they want the Vegas franchise, they're getting it. The NBA isn't going to snub them

He wants to be the face of a team and have significant ownership in any Vegas team. He already has a small piece of FSG so he's going to partner with them. NBA will give Bron first shot at a team.

I'm eager to get to the 32-team era for MLB and NBA simply because pausing your growth at 30 teams and going 20-30 years without expansion from thirty has NEVER MADE AN OUNCE OF SENSE.

I mean, MLB only went to 30 because of lawsuits, but six divisions instead of four or eight is just silly and dumb. Once they had to go to 30, they should have been looking for 31 and 32.

And the NBA has even less of an excuse because baseball stadiums are huge and costs billions, while there's like AT LEAST 30 arenas NBA teams could move into right now.
