What has McCabe done today thats so awful, so far him and bouwmeister are the only one i think that arent being made look stupid as $^*#.

Agreed. Pronger and Redden have been horrible. Foote and Blake have had a couple of bad plays. I don't think Regehr can do anything but get beaten for the puck by forwards and fall down.

Should I list the time you lost to europeans.

The list is pretty long, I gotta warn you

I'm not talking about losses to Euro's. That list is long and deep. I'm talking taking the best tournamnet of the best game on the planet and ruining it because we a have to appease some Euro-centric ice hockey federation and play by their rules.

Chris Pronger really worries me as a Canadian fan and an Oiler fan. He has been very good for the Oilers this year but he has a broken foot now and it really shows. I wish Phaneuf was in his spot.

The fins will be going after pronger in the third hopefully he can keep his cool but i doubt it.

Look there are 7 nations here that can win this thing. Canada is losing right now becasue they were dominated by the Fins in the first.

But the game on big ice just does not measure up. Someone show me the Olympic games tha measure up to the 84 Canada Cup, the 87 Canada Cup or the 96 World Cup. Even the 2004 World Cup had better hockey. Too much ice = no intensity. This game is all skating and counter attacking.

This is just bull. Most Big 7 games here are better/as good as those in 2004 WCup. The 87 Cup is better only because there was 3-game final. Make it here and you'll get the same intensity.

How come you don't see half of these Europeans try this hard in the NHL?
well come on, NHL season is so long and ur playing in an unknown city while at the Olympics, its a short tournament and ur playing for ur country. no brainer...

Instead of picking hockey teams maybe Gretzky should stick to what he knows best. Bimbo Janet, Tocchet and all....

give the greatest player to ever play the game a bit more credit and respect and not insult him like that.

I'm sure that no one had any problems with him in 02... if he had picked a different team, or if someone else had picked the team, and they were losing, it'd be the same thing.

The guy has put together our last Olympic gold medal winning team... and until this tournament is over, Canada is still the defending champs.

This tourney is a long way from over!

Pitkänen is the one I'd really like to see on big ice. He moves so good around the ice and has a tremendous vision. Sami Kapanen has always been extremely good on the big ice too. Last time he played in the Worlds, he was named the best forward of the tournament.

Lot of smaller guys could never make it in NHL, since they were not able to adopt to a smaller ice surface and a differnet style of hockey.

Oleg Petrov (Mtl), Nikolay Borshevsky (Tor) come to mind.

On the big ice surface those no-name players (by NHL standards) can play with the best of them.

Just look at Sushinsky for example

*** is this???? Learn how to recieve a pass you dumb***es. St.Louis is a completely useless player, why the **** is he on this team. Kariya is so much better, if Gretzky is obsessed with experience, Kariya has a lot more of it than St. Louis and he's also 10x better. Please someone get injured so Staal can come in. Please someone shoot the puck at Quinn.

Yeah you're right, overall Sindler has been good. He just missed a call there late in the second period and I overreacted. Good going so far.

yup me too.... pronger looks very, very bad this game.... if its a result of the injury, as an oiler fan i really wish he would have taken the time off to heal

As much as I don't like Doan, and wasn't infavour of him on the team, he has had a decent game. The only forward who hits on our team.

PEOPLE leave Gretzky out of this!!!!!

Seriously, even though I do not cheer for Canada, I find those anti-Gretzky talks ridiculous.

And Draper.

I'll disagree with that. Drapes is one of the only guys with a constant jump in his step. And he was vocal in the teams shortcomings. He creates stuff with his speed, and is invaluable on the penalty kill. He should be getting more ice time in my opinion.

I like the NHL game better as well however, your problem seems to be that NHL players are forced to play the European game. Now if we make the European players play the NHL game, isn't that just as bad? I mean, not for us, but 2 "wrongs" don't make a "right".

The way I look at it, the NHL and NHLPA knew that these games would be played with International ice and rules and apparently they still agreed to play. So if they are ok with it, where do we get off pissing and moaning? :help:

Don't bother with logic with some of these fools. It's the same thing over and over again. Hell, they'll even cut and paste the same baseless comments like our friend, SENSational.

The minute Canada starts playing like they can, their sentiments will vanish.

For now, they have all the answers though. And to think, it's their comments that could possibly result in the server crashes.

you're bound to hear it when Canada isn't winning. not his fault they aren't playing their best hockey but he'll be the first one to get the blame if they lose this tournie.

Which is how it should be.

Gretzky took all of the credit for 2002 and 2004, and I found it to be a little sickening.

So Gretzky should take all of the blame for 2006.

I think the loss of many key players have molded our team together and now they are playing with great passion. I have to say that I don't even remember when have Lions played with so much heart and passion.

Argh, they are showing this crappy ice-dancing here...is the third period going?

Ah, it just took them 3 minutes to switch to the hockey :shakehead
