As a young Leaf fan, I haven't experienced all that many great moments/memories. As things finally seem to be turning around, I thought I'd reminisce on some of my favourites:

I was only between 5 - 7 during these plays, but I still remember each of them (plus Crosses OT winner as well) vividly.

What a way to hit 500...

Then, there's a 10 year gap.... until the most recent one: Leafs winning the lottery this spring.

I considered putting the Kessel hat trick vs Ottawa in there, but it just doesn't quite have the same feel as all of these.

What are some of your favourites?

I enjoyed our playoff wins in the 90's and early 00's, but my best memory is probably the closing ceremony of Maple Leaf Gardens in 1999, when they brought out over 100 former Leafs, and paid homage to the Leaf hall of famers and the 40's and 60's dynasties.

As far as I know, it was the only time the Leafs ever gathered so many former great players of all eras together in one place. Many of those greats still alive in 1999 are no longer with us- Red Horner, Ted Kennedy (couldn't attend back then either), Harry Watson, Carl Brewer, Allan Stanley, just to name a few. That night was just about the last time you could properly celebrate the Leafs' history with living cup champion legends of all eras.

Without sarcasm, as a kid this blew my mind and thought Wendel the strongest shot in the league. Eras colliding.

I have this recollection of Neuiwendyk streaking down the left wing and scoring from the boards low. Also Sundin's 500th goal, and anything Doug Gilmour did over the years.

I've been a Leaf fan since the mid-80s, and two memories come to mind right away:

1) Nik Borchevsky's game 7 OT winner vs. Detroit in the 1993 playoffs

2) Wendel Clark coming off the bench as the extra attacker and tying up game 6 of the 1993 WCF vs. LA (that was quickly followed up by my worst Leaf memory later in that game, but I won't go there)

first ones that popped into my head were Wendel punching people. Guess because when I was a kid Wendel seemed like a superhero to me. My dad would make a big deal about him standing up for his friends

Quinn Era;

Playoff series over Ottawa.

Sundin goal vs Carolina to tie it.

-----

Toronto vs Montreal last game of the season (probably best game i ever watched). Winner stays in a playoff spots. ****ing Islanders had to win in a shootout.

Obviously Sundin's 500th goal will forever be ingrained into my memory and most others.

Maybe not the best moment but pretty memorable

I'll go with in recent memory because most have already posted good stuff from the early 2000's.

Kessel the "Sens Killer" getting the hat tricks vs Ottawa

In 2011

In 2014

Rielly getting drafted and his dad is pumped.

Rielly's best goal so far.

Might not have been the best game but I personally loved everything about the winter classic, especially the crowd.

Of course one of the best is also the most recent and doesn't involve anything on the ice.

There's quite a few more but don't want to clog the thread.

I'm an older guy and can remember the four Cups in a six years span in the sixties. Standout memories....

Leafs down 3 games to 2 in the 1964 finals against Detroit. Game six goes to overtime. Hard rock defenseman Bobby Baun, injured earlier in the game and barely able to move, sends a fluttering shot on net from the point. Somehow, it goes in. Leafs win and then take game 7 and the Cup. Here's the best part: Baun had been playing on a broken leg.

And then the aging Leafs, with 10 players over 30, are up 2-1 late in the deciding game of the 67 finals against the Habs. Habs pull the goalie and are pressing. The puck squirts free onto the right wing. George Armstrong gets his stick on it, takes a few arthritic looking strides and calmly shoots the puck into the empty Habs net. If I close my eyes, I can still picture it.

Maybe.... there's another memory like that in our future. For the first time in a long time, that hope doesn't seem ridiculous.

Sundin's 500th was my favourite, and the first hockey moment I 100% remember clearly watching.

2004 playoffs was my first time though and game 7 LOL

Easily for me is in '98 finding out they were moving to the ACC and I could go down and pick out my seats.

hmmm...
1. sitler's 11 point game.
2. Thrashing the Oilers 7-2 (I think that was the score) in the dark ballard days
3. Borschevsky's goal in 1993
4. Gilmor's goal against the blues / Cujo.
5. Wendel clark's rookie season.
6. Beating the senators 6-1 to clinch the series.
7. sundin tying it up in the final minute against Carolina.
8. sundin's 500th goal.

A couple of other goodies:

EDIT:
Also

RIP. You can tell how happy his teammates were for him.

Burns-Quinn eras. Clark's three Leaf stints. Acquiring Francis, Leetch, Housley, Gilmour, etc. in hopes of winning the Cup.

The Leafs vs. Kings 1993 playoff series. Former Leaf owner Harrold Ballard.lol A late 80's game, think it was Edmonton where the Leafs almost came back to win a regular season contest. Was something like a 13-11 final.

Skating at the Easter Seals event at the MLG, in around 1991. Met Don Cherry and Gordie Howe, in a autograph signing session. Also met Mike Krushelnyski, who was on the ice. I didn't get a chance to meet Bobby Orr who was signing autographs. Seemed like a nice guy.

I started watching the Leafs in the mid-eighties, in my mid-teens.

Game 7 against Boston up until the half way mark of the third.

Sorry for bringing up that loss in this thread guys but that was my first season watching the leafs and i just haven't missed any games since.

No need to be sorry. Sometimes you win. Sometimes you lose.

That wasn't one of the more pleasant experiences. What a shocker!
Lucic, pretty much turned the game around himself, coming back to beat us. I was so ticked, I thought I was going to explode.
