Every other major sports league has a legit apparel company making their jerseys and the NHL saddles up with this bum ass company

It’s no wonder the NHL is barely a major sport anymore
This more or less hits the nail on the head. Fanatics knew they don't have what it takes to get into any truly big league market so they ponied up on this pitch to the NHL and the NHL is desperate enough to take the deal regardless of other considerations.

Inexcusable by the league to sign a decade long contract with a company with no track record of producing any sort of quality product. Fanatics has the worst quality of any apparel producer in the industry. They’re primarily known for having a completely garbage product and somehow even worse customer support. If I’m forced to buy something on their website I filter out anything Fanatics makes themselves because the difference in the pictures they put on the website and the actual quality of the product you receive is enormous.

Just an unbelievably bad decision by league officials. Guess I will be spending zero dollars on their shit for a while.

There’s still time to fix this, NHL. Do the right thing.

How is it inexcusable? The nhl always does Mickey Mouse Busch league crap for decades. No one should be surprised at all.

Should have chosen Athletic Knit,New Era or CCM if they were going to go this direction.

Imagine the CFL has a more prestigious supplier than the NHL. This company has such a bad reputation, I expect them to mess up the on ice product too.

My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.

Oh well, guess I don't need to buy any more jerseys.
feeling is mutual I was mortified to read the news

Imagine there is still a portion of the fanbase that will go to battle for Bettman lol I might as well be a ghost to the NHL at this point. I already pirate their product because they can't give me a competent one for my money and now they will no longer get my money for their merchandise.

Major perception issues, like the Adidas jerseys despite the price but I’m somebody who buys one every 10 years or so not a huge deal

They're going to have specific parameters for the on-ice product. Those jerseys are not going to be some knockoff-level crap like what we buy for $180 to wear around town.
That would have been a part of any contract with any new supplier. moot point, Fanatics is universally hated by jersey enthusiasts and I don't foresee that changing because they got this contract.

People seem upset but their gear isn't that bad. I keep hearing how it rips and shreds apart but I've not experienced it. Maybe it's just the jerseys...
Well as long as it's just the jerseys that rip and shred, the news of them supplying on ice.........jerseys.....for the next decade is probably great news

Those companies probably didn’t hav ethe money the nhl wants . The issue with the nhl is that they want major league type money despite their lack of popularity. This is how you get oln and fanatics

Hard to believe that a company known for terrible quality would just turn it around the next year just because they are using the same factory in Canada.

Stupid move by the NHL. In general I think Bettman has done a decent job with the league but things like the Coyotes and this jersey deal make me second guess.

The Adidas ones now are like $200, the Fanatics ones are less and are horrible quality and look visibly different. I guess I just don't have a ton of faith.

I’m just saying the authentic jerseys aren’t going to look like the current Fanatics replicas that everyone hates. It’s two different types of product. Replicas are cost-cutters by nature, but authentics are more or less what they wear on the ice. Fanatics is going to have to honor NHL parameters for the authentics, so the quality can’t change too much from the Adidas versions.

I got a sweatshirt from Fanatics and was skeptical from the beginning because of its low price point. The saying “you get what you pay for” turned out to be 100% accurate in that case.

Haven’t bought a jersey in many, many years so it really doesn’t affect me. But hopefully for everyone else’s sake, you don’t feel ripped off when dropping $200 bucks on an item that sucks.
