I am very excited by this acquisition. He is the perfect deadline acquisition, a swiss army knife type forward (hits, shot blocks, 2-way skating, scoring, creating plays) who can play top-6 and will be part of the team's powerplay. Very excited to have him added, a surprise (and valueable) addition!! Go Sens GO!!

Seriously. A younger, heavier Bjorkstrand.

I am more excited about Zetterlund than Cozens (even though he can surge here).

The beautiful thing about this deal is that we basically get to rent Zetterlund for the rest of the season at no cost.

By that I mean if we traded Ostapchuk + 2nd for Zetterlund in the offseason, I wouldn't have batted an eye. That's a fair price to get a forward with 36 points in 64 games in his mid 20s for 2025/26 and beyond.

But considering rentals worse than Zetterlund were getting a 2nd+ in this seller's market, it's a significant underpayment.

We got a core player. Simple. SJ viewed him as such.

He's RFA at season's end with higher potential. At 25 years old he slots in with the team's current core age perfectly.

On the Sharks board in one of the threads it was stated by Zetts Agent that the Sharks tried early to negotiate but they ( Zetts Team) put him off but they were asked again and they put forward a counter offer and it was kind of implied that they could be Far off with being a restricted Free Agent soon with arb rights. He may have been way out of the park on his value. Still seems You got the better end of the bargain and with this unexpected trade might panic his team and get You Zetts for the right price. Zetts isn't a top two line player though he was in the top 6 best players the Sharks have so might have gotten the miss apprehension by he and his Agent that he was a bigger money player than he is. Hate to lose him, a mild overpay would have been fine by me and most on the Sharks Board. Hate this deal don't have much hope for the guy we got just a small chance lottery ticket that he get almost to where Zetts is , the only value is the 2nd rounder though it is just a mid one but might be used with something else to replace either a forward of similar value or move another daft pick higher on another pick.
