I think Ostapchuk looks like a 4th liner. Just doesn't have the skill to be anything more than that.

I'd be upset losing a 2nd but Buffalo gave us one in the Norris/Cozens swap for some reason, so it's a wash.

Zetterlund is a good young player that we should be able to keep beyond this season.

Staios killed it today. So many teams gutted their futures for short-term help, but we got better and added two players that will fit into our long-term plans.

Slam dunk acquisition by Staios. This is a definite value add, freeing up and using cap space from Cozens trade to get Zetterlund. The forward group is now set, with both Cozens and Zetterlund potentially in the mid to long term team plans.

I will miss Norris and liked the Big O, but the Sens are a better team after this deadline.

Liked Ostapchuk but I'm really happy with this move. More scoring depth.

I think it makes more sense to acquire Zetterlund than it does to try to go to the market on July 1st and sign a winger. We've seen time and time again that Ottawa just isn't a player in free agency. He has team control and is in the midst of his second consecutive 20 goal season, so he won't be cheap beyond this year. With the cap bump I think he can expect to make 4.5M going forward.

I have to say that I was really disappointed with Ostapchuk's run with the big club this season. Looked like a guy who is going to struggle to establish himself as an everyday NHL player. He's going to have to up his aggressiveness and physicality to stick - he's just not good enough at anything else. He didn't show enough dawg.

It's a perfect add. He is also responsible defensively. Thrives in the physical game. Even NJD loved him.

I think Ostapchuk will be a good player but I think it’s also gonna take quite a bit of time before he becomes a true 3rd line guy. I can see him being a beast in his prime though so I think it makes a lot of sense for SJ and their timeline, just like Zetterlund works better for ours.

I agree. He's going to have a long career ahead of him as a solid bottom 6 player. Somewhere between Nick Paul and Kastelic.

It's just going to take him a bit of time to get there.
