Starting Reimer to showcase him tonight? Maybe, especially if the Isles, Flyers and/or Oilers are in attendance. Reimer would easily be an upgrade on all of their backups, and in the case of Edmonton, their starter.

I'm posting this proposal on here:

:leafs
Nikita Nikitin
Viktor Fasth
1st round pick 2015 (PIT)

:edmonton
James Reimer
Matt Finn (or prospect <= in value)

That's what Reimer is worth. The ball is in your court MacTavish.

I guess with King Henry getting older and a generally weak Eastern Conference, why not go for it. It's just too bad they have to dump so much future for just a shot.

We as Leaf fans know what it's like to ride a hot goalie and sell out the future for a shot. It didn't work for us, and we know Leetch, Nolan etc weren't difference makers.

Pretty sure he did something similar last deadline.

I mean get your facts straight before trying to be the first out with information. Some of these so-called insiders are like children, trying to beat the other media outlets. Like it really makes any difference who reports it first.

I think the Rangers did alright TBH.

Duclair is a nice prospect, But the other things they gave up aren't really that much of a big deal. The 2nd and Moore are almost filler, And it's not a guarantee they'll regulars let alone impactful.

The 1st is good, But could be in the bottom 3rd of the round.

The Rangers were my favorites in the east, Even more so now.

Tat is really bad value for the Leafs.
2 dumps, and a 25-30 pick for a platoon starter, and Finn

I agree. If we can get a package like that for Dion with some salary retention...they should pull the trigger.

Who else is in the market for an expensive D? Unless there is some Richards based LA deal I think he will be here until at least the draft. What buyers are left right now? Have the desperate ones already made their moves?

I don't think we would be going for a guy like Nikita Nikitin at all tbh.

Meh, everyone wants to play for in New York, so they will never have to worry about signing top end talent. Kevin Hayes being a recent example.

I see Anaheim, Dallas, Columbus, Colorado in hunt for big D like Phaneuf. But all of them except Anaheim probably wouldn't trade for him now, they'll wait for summer, since they are pretty far from playoff spot. Oh maybe Detroit, Philadelphia would be also interested. There is still market for top line D, I would even retain up to 1M, even though I think fair value is 6,5M for him.

Good trade for both sides. Rangers did themselves great here, Yandle at 50% when his contract is solid to begin with is outstanding management.

Duclair is a great prospect and he will do great in Arizona with Domi but Rangers could afford to lose him, it is not like they dont have any other good to great prospects.
People fall in love with prospects and 1st round picks too much, whats the risk when you have others in the system who is the ready to step up and contribute.

Also, Rangers could afford to make this deal to push them over the top and potentially win the cup, this is the strongest Rangers team I have seen since they last won the cup. I think they have a legit shot to win it all this year.

So many teams have geared up for a cup run this year. Nashville, Chicago, Rangers just to name a few.

Stunning return for Yandle.

it is a fair return if you consider all the variables from both sides. Coyotes did retain 50% of Yandle salary and Yandle has a pretty decent contract to boot.

In hindsight, its a fair deal.

Don't recall saying anything about him being traded by the deadline.

Draft is most likely. After the playoffs, different teams are going to potentially pop up as buyers based on their play off runs.

Right now the only one's would be Anaheim and possibly Detroit. That number may grow by draft day.

Rangers are definitely in a place where they should be cashing in to try and 'win now'. That said, with now 1st round picks since 2012 - they are going to be HORRIBLE in a few years unless they get some late round steals at the draft.

And Kypre is such a fool - focus on being right, not first.

Yandle got a decent deal

Duclair is a good prospect, but I wouldn't consider him an amazing prospect. 1st/2nd round picks are late and John Moore has top 4 potential in the long-run.

It's a good trade for both teams as ARZ get future's and the Rangers become more of a playoff threat. I think it's important to know that while New York paid a price for Yandle if they did decide to move him come next year TDL, they could get a return on investment and recoup futures.

He could have just broke the trade without throwing out unproven information like other respectable insiders did. Simple a; "Yandle to NYR, details to come" would still break the trade.

Not really, Yandle is just a slightly better Gardiiner, he sucks defensively.

Not sure what sport you are watching. Yandle has been a defensive horse on a **** team for years. Great value for new York if it's only the one pick!

He may not be the greatest defensively, but now enter into a system with McDonagh, Staal and Girardi. Yandle is one of the most dynamic defenseman they Rangers have acquired since Brian Leetch. He is one of the biggest offensive threats from the back-end in all of hockey.
