Could Olli be traded to either Flames or Winnipeg as a depth forward going in to the playoffs? Surly a 7th round pick is worth it and he is familiar with both organisations.

He's not a rental though. He has much term and cost. The only way he gets traded prior to deadline is if we take a bad contract back.

If we're rebuilding, that's not remotely a problem. We're the richest team in the league, rebuilding teams usually spend right near the capfloor. We can eat bad salary for the next few years in order to maximize trade returns and still turn a major profit.

Heck, Id even retain ~1M in Phaneufs salary if it substantially improved his trade value. It may be 6 more years, but 3-4 of those will be with us rebuilding, and even after that, missing 1M from the cap still leaves us with more salary to spend then the majority of teams in this league. Most teams cant afford to spend to the cap every year, so its not even a disadvantage.

Let's wait until it actually happens. Who knows, perhaps Jokinen is traded for a contract.

So for now, it's 48 contracts.

Why would Leafs want a live player? They are rebuilding and have already said they want picks.

If I were Nonis/Shanahan. I would retain part of that salary and increase his value and make the best deal I can to a contending team. A mid rd pick is good enough for me. There is no need to have this guy play for us when we are tanking.

If we got Kempe back, I'd get greedy and look for a pick. If not a 1st, then a 2nd anyway. To "help" out LA, I'd be willing to stagger that pick to next year.

I don't disagree but until it happens, if it ever does, we're at 48 contract. That's it, that's all.

No way they get rid of Toffoli. I would love Kempe or Zykov.

They are apparently very against moving Kempe. Which makes me want him even more. Lumping Winnik in with Paneuf may actually be what does it. That being said I'd like a second as well.

Now is the time to "help" the teams below us
If Edmonton needs a goaltender give them one vernier or Reimer for for ?
Then they pass us in the standings
And we get a better chance at Mcfranchise or eichel

Leipsic - 5'9"
Weal - 5'9"

unless the nhl takes away any sort of contact the Leafs team will get destroyed out there

I know, tell Marty St. Louis to retire.

And the 13 goals that Brendan Gallagher has would put him in the Leafs top 6.

Oh and 5'9", all-star, Tyler Johnson should probably be sent down to the AHL because his point per game scoring is too much for the NHL.

It's too bad that 6'6, Joe Colborne isn't the Leafs 1st line centre, right?

I agree does Ollie look better to a contender that is cash strapped and we eat 2m of his 2.5 m salary
Maybe a third rounder

Bozak: 2nd + cap dump
Winnik: 3rd + 4th
Holzer: 4th
Booth: 6th
Jokinen: 7th

Leafs want a 2nd rounder for him.

he would be a horrible guy to keep around because he'd walk after the season and we'd get nothing. He HAS to go to the highest bidder.

3 firsts and we do a 2012 Seahawk rebuild or trade up.

I was commenting on his worth and what the Leafs want for him. To get more they can afford to turn down a 3rd and wait till deadline, increasing his value. He wont get more but a late 2nd, feasible at TD.

Not sure why Detroit would go after Phaneuff, they dont trade firsts and there is no way they get him without it.Phaneuff sweepstakes are warming up.

By all means they can have a 5'9" skilled hardd working forward. 2 or more is stretching it. Connor Brown in Marlies looks to be Nhl ready and he Is 5'10".

Watching now for players that acquire us picks only being moved. Freeing up contract space should be telling at this point. The leafs moving contracts for picks would indicate a larger deal to follow.

We didn't gain any contract space benefit moving Santo and Cody. We need more room before a multiplayer deal happens.I would take Second round pick and a prospect for Bozak that fast you wouldn't be able to blink lol.

Winnik, booth,Riemer and Bozak seem like they could be next.

If we can get a late 1st for Franson, then surely we can get a 1st + for Phaneuf

Phaneuf's ticket is the only thing that would halt the trade talks.

For the record, I'm not interested in taking Richards back for Phaneuf. The only player that I would trade for Richards is David Clarkson. If you think that Clarkson would be the only one getting roasted for not living up to his contract, wait until you bring in a guy that makes the same amount of money and is a poor skater as well.
