Size up front; Leafs acquire, re-sign Latendresse
Steve Ott may be addressing the need for grit in the Maple Leafs roster next season, but he doesn't fill size. Toronto wasn't finished though.
Leafs GM TribalPhoenix announced today that the club has acquired winger Guillaume Latendresse from the Minnesota Wild today in exchange for the clubs 4th and 7th round picks in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. Quickly after, the club announced that they had signed the 6'3", 240lb winger to a 2 year, 4M$ contract.
"Guillaume has size and a scoring touch - one combo we've been lacking." Leafs GM TribalPhoenix announced today.
"We are widely aware of the conditioning and injury concerns Guillaume has had, but we believe in Toronto we have the best medical team, and the best environment to propel someone to achieve with our current team. Guillaume can be a part of something really special here, something he appreciates more as he's matured. We're thrilled to add Guillaume to our group."
The Blues have acquired David Krejci from the Boston Bruins this afternoon, in exchange for Patrik Berglund, Ian Cole, and Jaden Schwartz. We paid a hefty price, but we're huge fans of Krejci's game and we think he'll be a great fit here in St. Louis.
More news to come later today.
Damn IR, what would you pay for Milan Michalek?
