NTDP camp attendance isn't mandatory for a program invite. They've made exceptions before for personal reasons and obviously players are often unable to participate due to injury.

The camp has more importance now than it used to in the past, though. In earlier times, a lot of the NTDP team was already offered and signed before the camp. They'd often go into camp having already announced a bunch of of the roster. They don't do this anymore but the camp is still not that important for the top tier guys who are locks for an offer barring some huge red flag surfacing in camp.

The fact that Moore was still on the camp roster even though he wasn't going to participate was a good signal that the NTDP was probably brought along with his decision.

Thoughts on the following making the team?

Nicholas Whitehead
Cooper Dennis
Conrad Fondrk
Matthew Grimes
Carter Amico
Benjamin Kevan

His Marlboros were eiminated today and he ends the OHL Cup with 10 points in 5 games. Seems like he is leaning NTDP which would be a fantastic pickup for American hockey. That NTDP team looks like they could be seriously loaded

With Roobroeck struggling, if he wanted to go to Erie, it'd be the perfect time for Moore to commit to the OHL as his chance at 1st has likely gone up.

I'm surprised Grimes didnt get in after seeing some of the D selections. I always preferred Grimes over Bracco.

Sometimes I wish we could down vote on this site. You have no idea what you're talking about.

No, the poster in question is obsessed with dual-citizens.
I assure you I know more than you think about developmental hockey leagues and the present day situation regarding young players. I'm also quite confident I know far more about the minor hockey system in Canada than you. You jump to an incorrect conclusion and decide that I am accusing someone of some illegal act. Then you would like to down vote my opinion and or account.

The kid is as American as I am but I would make the same decision as he is making if faced with the same situation. It doesn't mean I have to like it because I believe it to be destructive to the game of hockey and to the culture surrounding it in Canada long term. The USNTP program is obviously a well conceived program that offers tremendous value to a developing hockey player. It also offers the player the potential value of a full ride NCAA hockey scholarship. So yes follow the money.

You might feel differently if the shoe was on the other foot.

What a vague bunch of nonsense.. you say "money talks" and then refuse to elaborate what you mean by it... if you just mean "he chose to leave the possibility of playing college scholarship open", yeah, that's just one of the reasons he may have had (and it's true for any player that opts for any path outside of Major Juniors), framing it as "money talks" paints a deliberately negative picture ... and then to connect where a teenager chooses to spend his next couple years developing to somehow be "destructive to the game of hockey and to the culture surrounding it in Canada long term" which might be the silliest thing posted to these boards.

Very easy to project this kid as a top-10 pick two years from now.

Just absolutely ludicrous poaching by the USNTDP. Moore was born in Canada and played all of his hockey here, taking advantage of the best development league in the world. He’s eligible solely because his dad is American. Hockey-wise, not a single molecule of his being is American.

He skipped representing Toronto during the Brick Tournament for a Piano concert in America!

Played at US Selects!

Was a job assignment not changing away from being American-Swiss

He would have complained that Moore was Canadian if Moore been born and raised in the US but had 1 Canadian parent. It's a pattern that anyone with any ties to Canada is always Canadian.

Yeah the kid would probably barely know to skate had he signed up with Little Caesars, or the Mission, or Shattucks, or with Bishop Kearny... he owes it all to the mighty Canadian development system!

He's eligible because he is a dual-citizen (or eligible to become one? I guess I don't know the exact specifics of how it works). Molecule wise he has parentage that would qualifies him for U.S. citizenship, and he is a hockey player, thus making him an American hockey player regardless of where is living.
Hmm, that an exact quote? I'm guessing not. Hope you develop enough perspective one day to realize that which jersey a kid may or may not wear some day at the World Juniors is not akin to fighting against your homeland in a war.
