What ever Gabranth says is always ********. He's one of those what we call in Finland "Jonne" or in case he is older person, "Jälkeenjäänyt" who still thinks trolling is cool.

If we were on a certain Finnish hockey message board, we would have seen the following message already:

Nimimerkki Gabranth osoittautui moderattorien vanhaksi tutuksi ja hänen kirjoitusoikeutensa poistettiin.

Or

Nimimerkki Gabranthin anti keskustelupalstalle todettiin riittämättömäksi ja hänen kirjoitusoikeutensa on poistettu.

I'm always glad to help a fellow hockey fan:

#1 Finnish midget complex. He's too small to play in the NHL.
#2 Slow skater, see #1 which makes it even worse, midgets are supposed to be fast. See how well Granlund did in the NHL with his mediocre skating.
#3 Terrible scorer, not the greatest passer either. He really doesn't excel at anything.

Comparison: Slower Jani Rita, thought not as good goal scorer.
Prediction/Ceiling: Future Liiga 1st or 2nd liner.

Lol, so basically exactly the opposite of what Blackhawks' management/scouting says about him.

You Finnish guys and your individual biases for Finnish Hockey players.

Half of you love Teravainen, half of you hate him. Same with Granlund. Same with Armia. Oddly enough none of you talk about Ristolainen (at least around here). Must be a forward thing. ;)

wtf? No one hates him, there's only one oddball poster that says weird things about finnish players, and some idiots think he's being serious.

Lots of flashy moves and great passes today but no points. Missed one in the shootout but scored the game winner.

His hands are so nasty. That move works because he sells the backhand and then, in an instant, puts the puck back on his forehand and roofs it.

I'm not concerned about his scoring, at least not after only 2 games. I'm more interested in his overall game. How is he playing defensively, on faceoffs, positioning and anticipation, etc. Any and all news will be appreciated.

Well he's been back for only two games so I'm not going to draw any conclusions but I was a little bit surprised to see him get some PK action last game.

I could try my skill as a scout since I have a season ticket and the games seem to be more boring everytime. I won't be making any promises though but I could at least give it a try. Though I will be watching home games only and I think I'm going to miss their next game.

Can anyone give a comparison for TT? I heard Patrick Kane, not sure how accurate that is though since I've never seen him play.

Thanks - I will appreciate any observations you can post.

In the couple games I saw him play in training camp, I was surprised by his work in the defensive end. He hunts the puck pretty well and has a good stick to take it away and come out of a scrum with the puck. He's not physically strong but very crafty.

More i am watching him more he does start to look like Larionov, head always up, finesse passes etcetc

Start to watch from 2:17

In the offensive zone he really reminds me of Kane or Datsyuk. He is very creative and his puckhandling skills are probably best in the league. Also his playmaking is really fun to watch but as a Jokerit fan it can be frustrating at times when he's looking for a pass when he has a good shooting lane.

But as I said his puckhandling is amazing and just the other night against Lukko he had a shift where he circled around the o-zone a couple of times deking through everyone.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins.

Edit: If you really think about it they are pretty similar - in as much that I would say - and by saying this I may go out on a limb but nevertheless - Teravainen has all the potential to be not only Mr. Hopkins Lite but Mr. Hopkins 2.0, not that much an upgrade but just as good as RNH is and will be. What do you guys think, am I once again way off here, or is this "bold" prediction warranted? I mean, heck, what RNH's got over TT? One year and one inch, and that's about it. They are pretty even in all the relevant facets of the game: skating, stick handling, hockey sense, shot - you name it.

Hence, the best and only perfect comparable for Teravainen is Nugent-Hopkins.

He said himself that it takes 2 weeks to recover NHL-camp, so it is pretty clear he wasn't ready for NHL yet. He needs much more training under his belt before he can handle NHL.

His wrister is lethal but not the hardest one but i would take up his onetimer and slapshot. They are really good. Accurate and hard.
