Probably too old now
Ya they havent been great years either, he was up and down in finland between junior and men's league, he lit up the junior league so against his own age hes able to play he might just need to get stronger, maybe a few years of north american hockey will help but I think most people have already written him off. this year will probably be the best year for him to play for the phantoms though, its like 50% players 22 and underOh right, he was drafted two years sgo already.

ooooooh I thought it was a junior league my bad. thats even better news.Tuomaala was in Mestis - the Finnish second league - and not junior last season. While it is not the equivalent of the AHL, he was playing against adults and not teenagers.
He scored nearly a goal a game so there could be something to see.
I dunno, if he absolutely isnt good enough for the AHL they probably loan him back to his finnish team. Im hoping he finds some consistency here though maybe he was rushed into Liiga and just needed some extra timeTuomaala wasn't good enough to play in Liiga last season. Is he good enough to play in AHL next season? I don't think so, but he can prove me wrong. If he sucks in AHL, would Flyers sent him to play in ECHL?
Given his age and the number of forward prospects and career AHL forwards in the Flyers' system it wouldn't be surprising if he spent time in the ECHL with Reading this year. That wouldn't be the worst thing for his long-term development.I dunno, if he absolutely isnt good enough for the AHL they probably loan him back to his finnish team. Ya, nothing wrong with baby steps, incremental improvement is still improvement. They had Wisdom down in reading for most of the year last year for the same reason and he looked a lot better at dev this summer. Theres no reason to rush anybody right now anywaysGiven his age and the number of forward prospects and career AHL forwards in the Flyers' system it wouldn't be surprising if he spent time in the ECHL with Reading this year. there were times where samu looked like he was about to make something happen but the play just died on his stick, im not sure if hes looking for a specific opening or a perfect pass or whatever but once he has the puck he doesnt know what to do with it. he can skate like the wind though, hes not a bad forechecker but hes still building his strength and upper body. i dont remember the flyers ever investing so much time and resources on a prospect but theres still lots of time for him to put something together. the phantoms should be a solid team this year and maybe he'll find his gameLove to read this. Exciting. Hope he can bounce back like Lambert. Finland needs every speedy prospect they can get for the future lol.
My dream is to have som finns in Philly. Get Heinola from the Jets and draft Kiviharju and or Benak and Hemming please.
I don't think he can do that. His mindset is all wrong for that. He’ll probably have to reinvent himself as a bottom 6 energy player similar to what Laughton did
theyre playing pretty good hockey by AHL standards, theres tons of prospects down there this year so everyones getting time together and a few of the older guys have really stepped up so its actually a pretty positive environment to be in. against the weaker teams theyve looked like a noticeably better team, but when they played Hartford they looked like a bunch of kids. Samus been solid but theres times where he tries to do too much and the play just doesnt go anywhere, hes a great skater but a shitty puck handler and he needs to find lanes faster or get the puck on net, very indecisive but hes got a pretty good shot might need to focus on being a shooter more thoughFour points in five games to start the season. Has anyone seen the Phantoms play?
I hope not. Let him build up his confidence for a full season.17 points now, is ppg in the AHL so far.
any chance he gets called up soon?
Confidence. He was excellent in Mestis! The worst AHL players are also pretty weak. Especially goalies and defensemen. Many guys are there just to develop and are guaranteed minutes. How tf does Tuomaala have that many points after being so useless in Liiga? I'm baffled. I guess his playstyle is much better suited for NA hockey.

flyers turbo charged his development and had him working with sami kapanen one on one for the last year. im not sure what they worked on specifically but when he was back in Finland playing he was almost at a goal a game pace in Mestis so the skill was there, im not familiar enough with how the finnish league deploys their kids to say why he wasnt producing in Liiga though. His numbers are a little misleading for the phantoms right now, i would bet cold hard cash that 50% of his assists are from rebound chances he's created and the other 50% are secondaries so hes not threading needles and finding open guys. He's still involved and driving play but its mostly on the PP. He has a cannon of a one timer though and he gets it on net alot so theyre scoring alot of dirty goals its not high skill plays most of the timeHow tf does Tuomaala have that many points after being so useless in Liiga? Didn't know he worked with sami.
